The only time OL draft class was full of OL talent worth having was last year and we took McGlinchey 9 overall.
Haha. You're the "better half."
True. I did include ER as a separate position from the DL but collectively, the point was the prioritization overall over the years even starting with the regime with Tank (2nd rounder), Buckner (top 10) and Armstead (17th)...they still continued to attack that position with vigor and exhausted nearly every avenue possible (including Mack) to get it to where it is today. Insanely talented. Insanely deep.
IMHO, had they put forth half that same effort towards OL over 3 off seasons, this would be a moot conversation.

The #Cardinals, who have top waiver priority, are using it to beef up their offensive line. They claimed former #Raiders OT Justin Murray and former #Eagles OT Brett Toth, per sources.

Damn Cardinals will be claiming o-line and CBs like crazy
We knew they and the Texans would be going OL one way or another.

Alex Bars and Dan Skipper would be a start
Edit - but watch them bring back Magnusson.

I'm totally expecting the retreads of Sam Young, Magnusson and/or Day to be brought back after this. Kyle always keeps 10 OL.

Where are roster spots coming from?
Street to ir, then?

There's no way you can justify this depth chart given the issues we're having on the OL. Starters aren't even healthy yet we're carrying extras in areas where those players won't even dress and those who do at their position won't have any impact. And to imply this personnel configuration is "normal" is both laughable and sad.
But again, the over-explanation and the deflection doesn't even age well. Flip back a few pages and the same people deflecting we're just saying 72 hours ago how "keeping 7 WRs makes no sense."
Lol NinerTalk.
Taylor is going to miss at least week one and Hurd is a question mark for week one. So you go from 7 to 5, which is how many active WR's we normally have on the 46. We won't carry 7 all year long, it is a temporary move so a roster spot will open up here soon.
We also have Street likely going on IR which will open another roster spot.

Sure but you're then screwing over the development of McGlinchey and we're getting a comp pick at best for Brown this year. So now it's one year later and we have a RT with one year less of playing the position in the NFL and a hole at RG regardless.
Plus not every OT can move to guard and have success. Mike didn't exactly Light it up when forced to move there after injuries to Person and Garnett vs Vikings last year.
Yeah. Not all 6'9" T's can convert to G. That said, McGlinchey is an elite talent so if anyone could it would be him with training over a full off season. I think that's why you and I wanted Risner because he was a player you'd feel talent wise, could do either and was in a position where he'd have a full off season to dual train with the rest of the OL (versatility is huge for Kyle on the OL).
Risner isn't as tall and had interior experience which made him a smart pick for me. Plus I loved his nasty steak. I think we need that on this line but we'll see what happens. His play this preseason wasn't a clear sign of greatness. Ups and downs.

If my numbers are correct, we're starting the day with 52 (Street was on the original 53 but know he's done for the season). So there's one. The 3rd TE only had 39 snaps last year. So K.Smith (#4) probably goes to the PS later today. That's 2 spots. Potential trade of BeatHard. That's 3. If a 4th is needed, Bourne is gone as the 7th and we may need that for a 4th S. Reed is really a CB now.

Totally agreed. This is why I was so passionate a couple years ago about trying to draft players like Risner...OL just need extra time develop at the pro level (unless trained by an NFL coach like McGlinchey and Nelson) and even more so in Kyle's OZ scheme; very intricate and detailed system and a ton is asked of them.

Ross Dwelley had 39 offensive snaps last year, Cole Wick had a dozen when he was the 3rd TE early in the year. But the 3rd TE regardless of who it was, was active on the 46 weekly and was a core ST's player.
Why would they waive Smith today to put him on the PS? If they wanted him on the PS, why not waive him yesterday?

Risner was my day two crush and I was disappointed when he wasn't the pick, but watching Samuel this preseason has been reassuring.

Bourne won't he gone with two injured wr's out for the first couple of weeks.Originally posted by NCommand:If my numbers are correct, we're starting the day with 52 (Street was on the original 53 but know he's done for the season). They could ir Taylor
Smith would have to be waived to make the practice squad, if they kept him on the original roster they must feel that he would get claimed
