49ers Offensive Line

How has Matt Tobin graded out as a starter? Don't know anything about him and just saw that he's a 6th year player? Started 21 games at LG and RG but mostly RG.

Thanks Paso! You present some food for thought as well. They let Fusco sign elsewhere, Atlanta gave him a 3 year $12.75 million contract. They had Garnett coming back from injury and signed Cooper and Person as emergency backups. Sadly, Cooper wasn't able to get healthy and Person is hobbling as well. I really wanted them to draft a C/G high in the draft but...losing who? Pettis? Warner? Those two guys seem to be very special and I really can't criticize Shanahan for wanting veteran backups on the OL...especially given a rookie at RT.

I was wondering why they seem to have so many OTs compared to OGs, but the answer may be that they had two guys who were high draft picks and two FAs to fight for the RG spot opposite Tomlinson. Magnuson, Cooper, Person and Garnett all being dinged up is just an unfortunate part of football.

They have to give him some good reps even if he's the back up plan. You can't go into the game giving him no significant practice reps and expect much.
