our o line needs all the help it can get. we have no right to be arrogant and think other players can not help us. besides where are the brick by brick and we trust in lynch shanny montra?!

There actually wasn't lol. I mean if there was a OG that is better than Cooper/Tomlinson/Garnett available at the bottom of the 4th can you please tell me who?

Also go look at shanahan's past OGs tell me how many early draft picks were spent on them? Who were all the "big names" ? I'll wait...

ok , fine if there were no gaurds,. then at least someone at four who could have helped us this year. i will not buy the line.. well that was the best pick we could have made. i guess the other teams in front of us did not think that. i do not care if it was round three or 7 or free agency and maybe it will still come. i just think we should have brought in another guard to compete. at leas they signed this versatile guy. trust in lynch you know

We DID bring in a guard to compete. We gave 5 million to Jonathan Cooper.

The last time I checked the draft isn't just for this year. Street will be needed if we don't re-sign Armstead next year. He is the IDEAL 5T and would have gone much earlier if he was healthy.

How many 4th rounders do you know that come in and make an immediate impact? It doesn't happen very often man.

Seriously dude, you need to chill out. You are getting all bent out of shape because we used a late 4th on a redshirt player.

Have you gotten your blood pressure checked lately?

Hmmm this person, again I know there isn't all-world back up talent out there but.......

I know...a Baalke guy? In this case I say yes, he's a guy Coach trusts and that's really all that matters. He's not winning any awards, but is just a guy who comes to work, get his job done and I have absolutely no problem with him. He's helped a number of teams when they needed it. The kind of player every team needs.

sorry. when we have the multiple holes on our roster that we have. i do not like throwing away picks like they are xmas candy. i also chuckle when you casually say we used a fourth rounder on a red shirt player. when trent did it. it was the end of the world. when lynch does it. its oh well. its only a fourth rounder. brick by brick
Apparently, he was a reasonably effective center last year on a bad team. Completion never hurts.

Our new center is a major upgrade over Kilgore. You won't see him get pushed into the stands, that's for sure.

It feels like we got better depth / back ups and coaches will have these guys ready to step in when they have to.

Staley takes rookie tackle under his wing, even insists they sleep in the same bed and share stories till they fall asleep...

You can't titty f**k Garnett anymore since he lost his man boobs. You gotta admit that he looks solid af. He also got plenty of time to study.

To be honest, I have way more faith in the o-line this year than any other year since Harbaugh left. And that says a lot considering that we have huge question marks at both guard positions.

It is odd, but I feel the same way. I believe much of my faith is in JG as a FQB who can get rid of the ball quickly enough to help the line, WRs and RBs. I wonder how our power line of Iupati and Davis, etc. would have done with JG behind center?

What holes do we have to fill??

This isn't Madden. We can't have All Pros at every position.

Not a fan of Kentavius too, but will also say ShanaLynch has hit on some undrafteds and I'd say a guys like Bourne, Bolden, Brieda, and Magnuson would be in the neighborhood of 3rd to 5th round draft pick value today. In other words, ShanaLynch isn't perfect but they have been able to fix their mistakes by doing well in the undrafted category. To me, blowing a 4rth rounder on a ACL/Achilles pick doesn't hurt as much if you can also get undrafteds that make the team and contribute.
Slowly but surely..the trenches are getting stronger as well.
Yeah, I had predicted we'd grab another veteran like Fusco or Barnes last year and Mike Person is a solid depth guy. He's our new Beadles.

As to the draft finding at least one G to start or develop into a starter next year, there were options but 5 OL had already gone in the first 23 picks and then there was a big run on OL to start the 2nd; 4 of the next 7 picks. Lots of quality OL but we picked at 44.

The one G who was there at 44 (went to the Cowboys at 50) was Connor Williams.

Connor Williams or Dante Pettis?

It's an interesting conversation because they were talking about keeping La'el Collins inside if they drafted a tackle. They announced him as a guard so the intention is to have him compete for the starting guard position. --Mike Mayock

Following our own draft strategy, there were some good ones in the 3rd but mostly developmental guys like G Alex Cappa and C/G Mason Cole but we bably needed Fred Warner.

The argument for Connor Williams is, if you felt he could win a starting job he'd give 1K snaps this year vs. Pettis' projected 400-500 snaps. If you didn't think he could beat out Tomlinson, Garnett or Cooper, then he's depth training to start next year with Pettis adding 400-500 snaps immediately.
