Yeah, we'll save $3.5M cutting him and that alone would drop us to 18th. In short, like I highlighted prior to FA, we had plenty of cap space to add Norwell or Sitton + Richburg...hell, even Cooper too. We'd probably then need to add a T in preparation for Staley retiring or Brown leaving for FA next year.

But we'll probably be doing that now anyhow...as well as a G/C now too.
With Suh and Donald coming at us twice a year, we had better be ready to go to th knees! Those two need to be cut blocked early and often, we may need to raise Bob Mcitrick bones from the dead! We will need to be an aggressive nasty, and a little bit dirty offensive line!

Is Bruce Collie still alive?

agree, but even if they did not upgrade. we need two guards and a tackle in my opinion. ok maybe one guard and one tackle. but thats a big maybe
Cc, somebody and i think it was Giedi, that look for us to take OG, C , OT, kind of in that order, hopefully from 2nd on thru 4th. But we shall see. The C better be an OG/C. We still need two guys on bench who can pass block, in additon to needing two OGs. What we have in magnus, Garnett, IDK, but Laken, Beadles, no. Cooper , i just hope he isn't one of the 2 OLs Cowboys had last yr that couldn't block a lick.

I am willing to bet we absolutely do not draft 3 O/L in rounds 2,3,and 4 consecutively.

so many people are predicting the guys the rams signed to fall on their face.. we could be laughing out of the other side of our mouths if cooper and the other guys on that line people think will be solid flop. it is imperative to beef this up as you said. i would not rule out a free agent in the summer either. i do not want a repeat of jt where we knew the line was a hot mess but they waited till game ten to even token address it. the center is a huge huge step in the right direction as well as the dismissal of failgore

Agree, Mojave, because we still need a starting CB in there somewhere. I would guess an OT later, but then again we've had 10 or 12 OTs in camp. Maybe they were looked at as OGs, IDK. This sure would have been easier if we had taken Norwell or Sitton. Still, we don't know what Kyle nor john think of magnus, or laken, or Cooper,. Can any of them start? Can Garnet? The rest, we are guessing what they are going to do but all the while not one of us knows how they think of our existing OGs in camp. I think we know what they think of Beadles and Laken.

Oh, and then there is the little matter of needing two LBs. We need starters, too. This draft is going to be tough because when a CB comes up along with a LB and OG, how are they going to finesse that. I know one thing. I sure would like to see us with a pick somewhere between #59 and #9. That is an eternity between those two. We are fine from # 59 on but would really like to see us move up with an extra pick between picks #9 and #59. It wold be expensive, but would help us immensely...would be an extra starter.

If JL/KS don't like Landry or Davenport for our EDGE(hard to believe), and Roquan is gone, i half wonder if they would move back if they can't get their best EDGE . I guess i could see that. But if that EDGE is at all pleasing to him, i hope they don't trade back. He isn't Chubb, we know that. It is just are either EDGES good enough to go for at #9. We are also desperate at LB, and Roquan would be hard to pass on. Now if someone got held up for 3 picks in rd 2...well then you have something to consider. But that isn't happening.

Not sure, but if we can borrow Kevin Gogan's brain and put it in a cyborg that might help.
LMAO...pretty much.

Love the Kevin Gogan reference!

one of the best games or matchups in the history of our franchise which no one talks about. really was in 76 when we were 5-1 and played the cardinals 5-1. we won but that game pitted perhaps the best front four in the history of the nfl with our gold rush vs that awesome dobler dierdorff o line for the cards. epic

Taking OL in Round 1 or 2

I think this is a bigger priority than it's been made out to be lately. Because Kyle Shanahan spoke of the importance of center over guard at Weston Richburg's intro presser, and because they signed Jonathan Cooper and still have Joshua Garnett, one could be led into thinking they're set at the position or won't value it that high in the draft. But just like other vets they acquired in Zane Beadles and Laken Tomlinson, who didn't become any more serviceable after arriving as "system fits," it'd be unwise to count on Cooper. It's possible that Garnett breaks through, but they'd still have at least one guard spot occupied by an average at best player. Interior O-line should be an early-round priority.

I am all for drafting a Tackle and a Guard/Center in the 3rd round. LB round 1, CB round 2, O line twice in round 3. Round 4 and after go BPA, or trade away the picks for better picks in 2019. I hope we move down early in the draft (round 1), and then move up in the early to mid rounds, to get value players that are sliding. I want to walk out of this draft with no more than 6 players drafted. I hate losing players we just drafted, when we try to sneak them onto our PS. If we walk away with 6 players, they all should make the 53 man, and we can fill our PS with guys we currently have that we want to keep, or look to the UDFA pool like we did last year.
