Makes sense to start. Tomlinson gets the veteran courtesy start at LG out of the gate, Cooper played last year replacing Fusco and Garnett coming into the fold. All three will get time at both G spots. Throw in a rookie and may the best two win.

Well I could be happier with this starting line-up. Really hoping the draft brings some talent to push everyone on the interior line.

Same!

True...I guess I was hoping to hear that OG would be a priority in the draft as well as a rookie or 2 will also be in play. I mean they probably still are, but I don't like this perception that somehow this is what they are going with.

I would go defense with the first pick and go guard in the second round.
Not claiming I know but I wouldn't be surprised to see our first three picks all go to Defense with Passrush, LB and CB all needing bodies.

Agreed.

I've said it a thousand times but I don't see a rookie not named Quenton Nelson or Isaiah Wynn being better than who we have and I can't see us spending a premium 1st on a guard.

That said, rookies at DE and LB should be able to come in and start and make an impact.
The Richburg signing is even more important now. He'll see Suh a lot by himself and help one of the guards doubling Donald/Suh.

Good call!

Has Richburg ever played Guard??

I don't want to move him - just curious.

I seem to recall Tomlinson completely stonewalling Aaron Donald in pass protection during the first Rams game last year, specifically because at the end of the game, with the game on the line, Donald shifted over to the side away from Tomlinson, and promptly beat Fusco up the middle for a sack that essentially ended the game. That was only Tomlinson's first or second game with the Niners. Dude showed he has some talent. imho.

i'm not too fond of it also, but since Garnett was noted at both guards spots tells me they aren't sold on who's going to be starting

i'm guessing they draft Daniels in the third to back up Richburg at center and add depth to the interior o-line.

And I'm betting on Garnett to have a breakout season.

Take a first round pick--say, Nelson this year for example--and give him a full year to lose some body fat, improve his strength and conditioning, and study/learn the playbook--think he'd be a better player? and motivated to prove it? Don't underestimate Garmett! imho.

well s**t what the f**k is Lynch bringing him back for? If Garnett has to play and plays horrible this year and allows Jimmy to get hit one too many times.... THAT'S ALL ON LYNCH and Kyle.

Where has our standards gone?

we know who Garnett is... we don't know s**t about Cooper, but that he hasn't played well enough to be kept on his original team..... and Tomlinson struggled early on, but played better as his season went on. I still don't fully trust him as a starter, but at least I trust him more than Garnett and Cooper.

we have a hell of a QB, and we couldn't bring ourselves to get of one those other guards available????

Jimmy has proven to be able to put up points without Garcon, and with inconsistent to horrible Oline play. Why role the dice again this year and rely on Jimmy's quick release?

You are preaching to the choir. but yet some think we are either. just fine or we just need to tweak it a bit. oh yes. i almost forgot. some think we will be a better team if we dump brown and put in "gary".. jesus
