Not allowing sacks is great but who have they faced. The Rms D wa smissing their 2 best pass rushers. Miami and Arizona aren't known for having a good pass rush. This week will be a much bigger test. Kyle will probably call a lot of plays that allow Brock to get the ball out quickly. and of course they'll try and get the run game established early. That won't be easy. Jones is a good run stopper and Hufanga is good at coming for run support.

Myles Garrett played when we played the Rams. It's debatable whether Aaron Donald is their second best pass rusher at this point.

Byron Young has been the most consistent pass rusher for LA. Donald is a close second followed by Garrett. All three are very close together.

Did a quick look. Those three teams have a combined 7 sacks through 3 weeks. So sacks are there and happening

We're acting like the Rams defensive line stinks because Aaron wasn't there? Turner and Fisk are top end rushers. Young is a good young DE and Myles was out there.

folks just can give credit when it's due.

Aaron Donald has not been good this season. He's a 35 year old dt who hasn't played NFL football in 2 years so that is to be expected. He has like 2 pressures in 2 games. Whether or not he gets to a point where he's a contributor we'll see, but as of right now he is one of the most overpaid players in the league. He's earning over $20m this year.... Insane

And they dominated that OL. Thats what you do when you play a bad DL

i mean Purdy absoutly dominated cardinals and miami who are bad defenses maybe both in botom 5. Thats what great players do they have near perfect games against bottom competition.

The broncos have a great D i dont expect that to continue but i am very confident in OL going foward. This game will be a lot about blitz pickups. Broncos have one of the highest QB hits in the league

The uptick is most likely due to his contract and his replacements being added this year

i think its more about having 2 really good guards next to him

Agree on that, and I am looking for Carver to give him some competition next year if he's still on the team. Drake Nuget is another one that might inherit his job. We'll see, but I like both Willis and Drake for the center position next year.
He's had good guards before. Hennessy also came in and did a great job while Bren was out last year.

While he's playing better during his contract year, idk if this year alone is worth paying him more cash next year

Jake is also 34. So he's not getting any younger. Although smarts at the center position is a must for Kyle's offense, a athletic road grading center that can just wall off pass rushers with his athleticism will also be important for keeping Pudy alive.

Jarrett is more of a young Jake Brendel 2.0 whereas Carver is more like a raw athlete like Alex Mack, but without the center experience and knowledge. I can see Jarrett step in for Jake nexr year and Carver eventually supplanting Jarrett as Carver gains center experience. We shall see.

Was hearing we are running 5 out 75% of the time on pass plays. Meaning we only have 5 blockers 75% of the time everyone else has a route. I have a hard time believing that but you got to give kudos to the OL if true

They had their struggles today getting run blocking lanes going, and Brock's pocket presence saved them from giving up a few sacks, but against a strong Denver defense that was to be somewhat expected. Overall they've been a real solid group.

Next week will be an even bigger test.

Definitely top 5. People need to realize the offensive line play in the NFL is generally not that good. I don't know what's happening at the high school and college levels but perhaps the good athletes don't play line or they aren't getting the coaching. Whatever it is there is clearly an issue.

But, yeah, the 49ers have built themselves a really good line. This group getting to play together for the last two years has paid off along with the 49ers patience with developing key players on the line. Puni might be one of the best draft picks in the last 3 or 4 years.

Purdy and the o-line doing an amazing job of avoiding negative plays.
This is a long thread, so maybe this is obvious --

9ers strategy seems obvious now - when you are usually drafting bottom of the round, there aren't a lot of OL starters there. They are a developmental player anyway. So if you are going to take a player to develop for a year why not take a 3rd-6th? Additionally, if your team has a LOT of other needs over an OL starter that have bigger impacts on the game -- WR, DL, etc, then those players are gonna take priority over an OL 1st rounder.

Colby is a good example this year. McKivitz was a good example replacing McGlintchy. Even Puni stepped in due to injury to start as a rookie and then held the job. It will be super interesting to see if Cruz can develop. Given how raw he looked in preseason this year, if he becomes the swing tackle next year that would be some amazing development work by the coaches.
