Then they'll end up getting fired eventually as having regular season success only to see them lose for the exact same reason every single time will get old.

Maybe they need to change OL coaches. Starting to remind me of the Seahawks with Carroll and Tom Cable and Cable talking up how he can coach up any late round pick or project and then the OL inevitably looking like crap at the worst possible moments. Cable is younger than Foerster and he's been out of the NFL for nearly 5 years now.

I agree 100%. Foerster is a horrendous OL coach. But we knew that from his first stint here
Perfect time to move on from Foerster. Ledford did an outstanding job with the Atlanta OL but Stefanski is bringing back Bill Callahan.

Ledford moved up the college ranks, coaching at some of the most zone crazed programs in college football and has been killing it with the Falcons. He's also a former 49er from back in the day. He's gotten the most from his talent every step of the way and I most remember him for his time at Appalachian State where they ran the outside zone religiously.

Problem is and has been center. He gets pushed around way too much. Only hope at replacing him is if he retires bc they love him for some reason

Why would Kyle make this change, though? From his lens, Foerster is fine keeping the OL a 2nd priority in the draft and FA. Brendel, Puni, McKivitz are essentially home grown.

I don't disagree making the move, but what's Kyle's motivation?

Using the same PFF our oline was ranked #5. While I agree change is needed I don't see Kyle doing much of anything this offseason to adress the oline outside of Burford but with minimal investment.
Kyle isn't going to change the OL coach or the personnel. He loves these guys. The irony is his stubbornness with the OL has prevented him from winning two rings.

No, the problem has not been Center. Brendel has been at least average to above average the last three years.

The main problem has been left guard, both last year and this year. Banks was bad here, pulled a bank heist to go to Green Bay, and in the bottom third of all Guards this year. Burford took over once he got healthy. He was a little better at run blocking but much worse in pass blocking. Ironically, Banks and Burford are ranked #55 and 56 among Guards.

Right Guard was a big problem early in the season, got a bit better once Puni got healthy but he never got back to his 2024 form.

In the meantime, Brendel played better than either Guards, though not a powerhouse like Humphrey in KC, Brewer in Miami, or Frazier in Pittsburgh.

I expect we will make an effort to find a better solution for both LG and Center (Brendel will be 35) in the draft/FO, but in the meantime watch some tape. JB was not our worst OL problem.

And to think Humphrey was available when we selected Banks 😳

We wish.
There's no way Shanahan is watching the all-22 from last Saturday and thinks this IOL is acceptable moving forward. This is f**king hard to watch, man. The NFC West's interior DL are too damn good to have mediocre IOL. The first step towards building to beat the Seahawks is in the OL. all 3 IOL spot are upgradeable.

PFF never has it right .We are nowhere near top 5 middle of the pack is were we are at. But if we thought PFF was right still is not good enough with the Rams and Seahawks in our Division because our line we have now will never dominate either one of these D lines .

Maybe it's a blessing in disguise because he pretty much has no choice but to upgrade his o-line given Seattle and LA's defensive lines.

It is a bit odd because when he took over in 17 the first thing they tried and mostly did well was overhaul the trenches. He coached dominating them and being physical. We straight up bullied people around 19-21. I remember teams saying how beat to hell they were after facing us....Our rivals took lessons and molded themselves to beat that team.... and now they have, while this unit is not the same, and aging.

PFF is a sham.
