Borlands got huge mega shoes to fill, but piece of s**t? Cmon maaaannnn.

That's some strong words. You will feel different when you get over the shock like the rest of us.

This happens to just about every LB eventuall. Patrick Willis got trucked by a Ravens lead blocker in 2011. We all just pretend we didn't see that

Yeah if you've never been trucked, you're ducking runners.
Oh come on now people...

Let s not act like Borland sucked last year...

Thats what happens when you come sliding in on your knees to make a tackle, bye, bye momentum and power.Attack the ball carrier Borland and drive with your legs, ffs.

In fairness, I've seen Marshawn put on his back. I don't think there is a single NFL player out there without highlights and lowlights to pick and choose from. Doug Baldwin got a TD on Revis in the SB, that doesn't change the fact that DB is a #3 and Revis is one of the best CBs in the league. That kid Borland is good, but yes big shoes to fill.

As much as I love Willis, I wouldn't want him to keep playing if his heart is not in it. I would rather he retire a Niner and let the team move on if it is something he is truly considering as an option. I believe the old cliche goes something like this, "Once you are thinking about retiring, you've already made your decision"

I'm in the same boat. If there is any doubt as to whether he wants to come back, then just hang 'em up. A wise man once said, "Get up and look, step in. Jump in. Let's go. All in."

It's hard enough to play when a player is giving 100% effort. To give anything less would be cheating himself and the team.

I doubt Willis would come back and give less than 100% but that said, as much as I will miss him, I rather he retires at this point and go to the next phase of his life where I'm sure he will be successful.

there's getting trucked and then theres getting trucked by Russell wilson

Wilson rocked him so hard his momma felt it
Didn't Borland make a hell of a tackle on Lynch in that same game
I'm still shocked over Willis retiring. Cant believe his career is ending so quickly, it felt like he was a rookie yesterday. If he wants out, so be it. He has the right to do what he wants in life. I wish him the very best. Amazing player and person.

Looking forward, the loss of a player like Willis would be crippling to most teams. I think our line backing core can survive this. We are in a unique position with Borland and Bowman on the roster, two studs. I thought Borland was playing linebacker at a higher level than anyone in the league when he was thrown into the lineup. Just hope he and Bowman stay healthy. Bowman is an all-pro LB himself, his return will be huge.

Borland's awesome, don't see why people wanna act like he's not an above average MLB at the very least

baalke is an ace at getting linebackers. we will be fine without him. but still, it hurts losing a leader like that.

Agree. Not just the talent, but the leadership will be missed from Cowboy and Willis retiring. It is a changing of the guard in SF. Time for other vets to step up and lead the team.
