Just remember guys, Mike Nolan talked a good game. The "Nolan Way". Singletary "I want winners." "Physical with F." Sounds good, but we'll see. What kind of WRs are you gonna have? Is the Offensive line gonna be solid? What about the running game overall? Are they really gonna use the Seahawks as a model as to how they are gonna run things? We shall see.
I actually think the Oline will improve if Iupati leaves. He just is over-rated. Great in the run, dead average in the pass protection.
Me too...I'm ready for Iupati and Crabtree to move on. Don't even want. Hell, I'd be happy if the coaches made Boone win a job too. I'm even on the fence with Smith/Gore d/t drops in production and the fact that I want to see Hyde and Carradine. That said, I'd be happy to get Gore and Smith back...just more of a statement that I'm ready for the young guys to get their snaps and develop. They are ready.
J Smith is the only player on the niners that is almost impossible to replace. If he retires they will need to boost two positions to get the same level of defense. He's on a level with Deion Sanders, closing out an area of the field so the other guys don't have to worry about it. Really a remarkable player who plays run and pass equally well. How often did runners run through Justin? Never? Outside contain? Solid. Pushing the pocket and demanding a double or triple team? Always.
I agree that he may be declining a bit due to injuries but I'm going to be sad when he announces his retirement, whether it's this year or next.
A team can not just replace the leadership, heart, work ethic, will to win, etc. of Justin and Gore. However, you can replace their production. Justin had a good year but again, you only need to replace 43 tackles (lowest of his career), 5 sacks, 2 FF's, and 3 STF's. For reference, in 2013, Dockett had 46 tackles, 4.5 sacks and 10 STF's. In limited snaps last year, Carradine alone had 17 tackles, 3 sacks and 3 STF's.
He's ready! Ha...right on que:

"Carradine, in fact, was at his best over the final three games of the 2014 season as he got more playing time. Against the Seahawks in Seattle, he had two sacks; in the final game against Arizona, he had three tackles and a sack."
As to Frank, he ranked low in PFF with a -.8 grade and replacing 1,106 yards (lowest of his career) and a 4.35 average with only 4 TD's should not be difficult to do in a run-heavy offense like ours. Hyde alone averaged 5.7 yards. He's ready too.
It's just hard, emotionally, to move on.
