It's true. Look at how Nolan nuked the team he inherited. He strip mined it of all the talent that was left and turned them into 7th rounders (much like Baalke is prone to).

The best thing for this team would be continuity....with Harbaugh out the door, just kiss it all goodbye.

This. Please this. We had a bad season and I know it's been disappointing. We can point fingers all day but we know we have what it takes. Don't give up on ONE bad season. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills or something. Willis will be back, Bowman will be back, Cowboy will be back, Aldon will (probably) be back, McDonald is gone but we can afford to lose him. Vernon had an incredibly bad season but I suspect he'll be back with a vengeance, Gore, Crabtree, Boldin, errm... yes even Kaepernick. There are teams that would sell their souls to have what we have. Why give it up over one lousy season???
The two good areas we have going for us are :
A) When healthy we have one of the best run blocking OL in the league
B) Our LB corp is ridiculously talented when healthy

But it's all for naught when you have the worst passing attack in league. Teams just load the box against us. The DL will also be a huge question mark without Justin and Ray.

But if we can at least elevate the offense to average....we have a shot with our defense.
All this talk about windows is stupid in the modern NFL. There's so much parity that even the worst teams are only a year or two away from contending.

Every season since the playoffs went to 12 teams, at least 4 teams have made the playoffs that didn't make it the previous season.

IMO there really isnt a closed or open anymore. Look where we were before Harbaugh and in his first year WITH ALEX SMITH we went to the NFCCG NO ONE expected that. All it takes is the right guy to lead us and we can get right back there.

Look at DET this year. mediocre they hire Caldwell (who also took over midseason to help take Balt to the superbowl) Bruce arians in ARI. All it takes is getting the right guy for our team.

Jim Harbaugh isnt the end all be all. While i wish we couldve kept him its clear we are not.

So to answer your question... our window is as open as the coach that climbs through it

That leaves Rex Ryan out
Now way, we have plenty of talent, and youth, we need to retool the coaching staff, sign a few of our FA's, draft well, and add so FA talent in to off season....like we do every year. It's just that this years retooling will be a little more extensive.
IWe need corners, corners, and uh more corners! If and when the FO/Baalke get rid of Harbaugh .. they bring in someone else pressure goes on Baalke 100 percent 1 bad year under a new coach s#@! Hits the fan and the whole team is gone by then. No coach would want to coach for the 9ers just like JD denied us. They better have a plan or every one is gonna have it better than us.
The window has not closed. It was open this season. Harbaugh and Roman and Kap could have gotten us through this but they didn't.
Harbaugh and Roman didn't devise a scheme to maximize Kap's strength's. Instead they switched from power-run/pistol/option to 4-5 wide
Run and Shoot. A colossal mistake to try that in one off-season. They are good run design guys but they suck at passing offense. That's just the truth.
Kap didn't help with his inaccuracy, poor decision-making, and poor footwork or useless twitter rampages. ALL OF THEM don't know how to get a play off on time.
That is just unprofessional at this level. And for that to be going on for this length of time is staggering. It speaks to a lack of detail, preparedness
and discipline. We had plenty of games that we could have won so no the window isn't closed. First we must get a vertical dimension receiver, next replace
Frank Gore. Which Carlos Hyde is on his way to doing. Draft another dynamic player (Darren Sproles type), Replace Iupati. Draft another defensive lineman depending on Justin Smith coming back or not. Sign Kubiak or Shanahan as coach. Keep Fangio and Hopefully retain a lot of the defensive staff and give it another go.
It mostly depends on Kaepernick. A talented quarterback can improve a team quickly. A team without a quality QB can languish indefinitely. And the problem is, good quarterbacks are few and far between. How many franchise QB's are there in the league? Most teams have mediocre to bad QB's and they usually don't get very far.

If Kap continues to struggle, we're not going to be a great team no matter what. We have some great players who are aging and in that sense the door is closing. But there will be new great players, so the door really never closes but you have to have a special QB that can win ball games.

I believe Kap will improve and is going to be a pretty good QB and win a lot of games for us. From watching him I sense he's tough enough and can be in control of the game at times. I think he will improve in the areas he struggles with and if he does, his natural talents will be even more impressive.
i will say theres a screen on the window

The Harbaugh era window has closed. Now, it's time to give someone else a shot at getting us #6.

Um, why do we need a plethora of corners? Most people, I think, would agree that it is the O that needs the work. Maybe one DL and maybe a DB depending on the re-signing position.

A bad year in 2015 and the whole team is gone? Is this something out of Madden? These guys will play next year and future years, for themselves if not for the team. What we need is a good set of coaches to bring the best out of them.

And some decent playcalling. 2015. We are back.

agreed. the front 7 and our oline was our greatest strength for two years. we need to keep that in tact.

Our window will depend on how the coaching regime does. If its another Erickson/Singletary type of staff....then probably.
