Just look at Cowboys. Everyone said they would totally suck because of key departures on defense and no name / no talent... they send Ryan's sloppy ass to New Orleans and get a better DC. Dallas defense >>> Saints defense.

I can't say it's a fluke year and just give Harbaugh a pass. There really isn't a very good excuse. The Oline is piss poor, but they still have Staley/Iupati/Boone and Looney is not bad at all. It takes very good coaching to get over those hurdles. Other teams are winning with less talent and will probably be in the playoffs.

Harbaugh is the real deal, but he totally screwed up this year. It's more on the coaching than the players. Coaches (offense) just didn't really know how to help their struggling oline / QB. There are teams doing it with less. Is it time for the divorce? Maybe / maybe not...

I won't snivel one way or the other. I just hope the results take us to the SB and we win out this time!

The Cardinals have been injury wrecked as well............they keep winning. They needed a RB, they brought in a guy off the street and now he's racking up 100 yard games rushing for them. Coaching is everything and on offense this team falls short.

Perfect example!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I know. I was angling more towards the raiders situation.

You sound like thats gonna be easy. Coordinators are just as hard to find. Sometimes coordinators are.given jobs because no one else wants it or the they want to work with the HC. Doesnt mean they are the right fit. Remember the Nolan years? This team is talented so no doubt coordinators will want to be here if the HC is right.

The point is that unless Fangio gets a head coaching gig, or unless the 49ers new coach fires him, I don't see him leaving. He's got a good situation with the 49ers, a highly talented defense, lots of young players and he's been around the block and then some, he's been fired a few times, he knows the NFL is a business and I think he'd be willing to work with the right head coach.

HARBAUGH OPEN TO NEGOTIATING WITH 49ERS

After San Francisco was eliminated from playoff contention Sunday in Seattle, head coach Jim Harbaugh said he is open to sitting down with Trent Baalke and CEO Jed York to discuss his future.

Jim Harbaugh said he is willing to sit at the negotiating table with 49ers CEO Jed York and general manager Trent Baalke to discuss his future after his team was officially eliminated from the playoffs Sunday.

Whether or not San Francisco's brass wants him back is entirely up in the air.

"I'm always available to sit down with the owner or general manager, absolutely," Harbaugh said, before noting he expects to sit down with them "at some point."

Reports from national outlets infiltrating the 49ers' 2014 season have all indicated Harbaugh would not be back with the team in 2015, the last year of his five-year, $25 million deal he signed in 2011.

The 49ers (7-7) were eliminated from postseason contention after Sunday's 17-7 loss to Seattle after York mandated Super-Bowl-or-bust expectations earlier in the year.

"He has my full support if he's here or somewhere else," quarterback Colin Kaepernick said of his embattled head coach after the game.

York and Harbaugh were unable to come to a contract extension last offseason after Harbaugh became the first coach in NFL history to reach the conference title game in his first three seasons. And in February of 2013, the 49ers came up five yards short of the go-ahead touchdown in Super Bowl 47's loss to the Baltimore Ravens in the final moments of the fourth quarter.

With Harbaugh still under contract for one more season, the team could explore trading him for draft picks, as they reportedly were interested in doing last offseason with the Cleveland Browns.

But Harbaugh would have to sign off on any deal, which would be complicated by negotiating a contract with the new team and compliance with the 'Rooney Rule.' There's also the question of whether or not Harbaugh would want to go to a team that is giving up assets, when the 49ers could potentially fire him, putting him on the open market where a team wouldn't need to make a trade for his services.

Simply put, Harbaugh has the leverage to dictate his future and could negate any trades, forcing the 49ers to fire him. A possible, but highly unlikely scenario, would be Harbaugh returning next season in the final year of his contract if three parties cannot agree to a trade with a new team.

York drew a line in the sand following the team's dreadful 164-yard performance in a 19-3 loss to the Seahawks on Thanksgiving with a Tweet, writing: "Thank you #49ersfaithful for coming out strong tonight. This performance wasn't acceptable. I apologize for that"

Since then, Harbaugh has been resolute about not worrying about his future.

"I don't worry about my future," he said Dec. 1. "(I) Haven't participated in any of that speculation. I think I have a recessive gene for worrying about my own future. What I want is - I want to attack this week. I want to get this right."

Does anyone believe that Kap has a say on whether or not Harbaugh stays or not?

I think harbz kept roman around d out of loyalty this year.once the off season starts there will seperate.Roman back to college.gets to save face.with a legit info o line and a healthy defence.we would have a fully different season.
KEEP HARBAUGH ...LOCKED IN THE CLOSET...and then airmail him to Jax. His entire concept of football is 2 decades out of touch. Fire his azz and roman with him. Ok, throw in kap with them . JH screwed kap up so bad he won't be right for another 5 yrs. Great coaching.

You can always pinpoint one not so good season, but if you talk about the four seasons, it is hard to beat Him Harbaugh's record. Can't beat that other than winning a super bowl. If winning the super bowl is the argument, you can make a point that unless you get Peyton Manning otherwise you need to keep looking for a new QB, even if you have Tom Brady or Drew Brees.

We need to keep Jim Harbaugh because he is a great coach. If we need to pay him well for him to stay, pay him well.
We need to take that next step. I don't think horatio horblower will take that next step. SO, I am ok with changing guard. Even if it means we are essentially in rebuilding mode for 2 years. This staff is unable to adapt at the pace required for NFL success. Sorry, but our offense is the joke of the league. No mas.
Does anyone know exactly what York's beef with JH is? Just when I thought this team was no longer dysfunctional, they decide to get rid of the coach that brought them back to relevancy. I agree with keeping Harbaugh if he revamps his offensive staff with a proven play caller.
And admit he made a wrong u turn? Does that sound like Horatio?

This is not about alex vs kap. This is about enrolling kap in the 14 month university of phoenix certificate for bachelors in pocket passing, and watching the star pupil eek out a c-.

If he stays, I pray he stops saying crap like "who's got it better" "we can do whatever we want".... and stop pissing off the referees (they hate his effing guts and will keep throwing BS flags for as long as he is hated)... and the wardrobe (can he wear a different color pants just once)

well, we all will find about this premise which most of us believe in a few weeks won't we. Till then I can hope JH has more smarts than to remain loyal to several coaches that are not producing, and haven't been for some time.

It's the old; wait and see...
Goodbye Harbaugh, hello Pep!!!!!
