So f**k you Ed Hochuli, but most importantly, f**k you NFL. Your b******t rules created this mess. Fix the rule and refs won't be put in this position to blow a call.

I'm sick and tired of this crap. EVERY year a blown call has severely impacted our season, if not ended it.

2011 NFCCG -- No Bradshaw fumble
2012 Super Bowl -- The entire f**king game
2013 season -- Brooks hit on Brees costs us home field, no call in NFCCG on clear roughing the punter.
2014 season -- AZ and this SEA game

This is unnacceptable. To be clear, the 49ers have a part in this mess. They've played like s**t and ultimately that's what tanked the season. But the history of blown calls against us that have ended our seasons is disturbing. Enough is enough.

I'll add the hit on Cutler against the Bears.

The Niners are the main culprits of their undoing, but the excuse of "Dont blame the refs. Good teams overcome." does not fly. It is a cop out and let's the league off easy. Forget the outcome of the game. The calls may or may not lead directly to a win or a loss. We won't ever know for sure. The problem is that we do know that it completely robs football fans of a good and entertaining game. I would be willing to bet that most casual fans turned the TV off after that call. If we, the fans, are paying money for this product, then we've earned the right to complain about things that need to be changed.
They need to implement a system like the name. Take the replays out of the officials hands and have a dedicated replay staff in one location.

You know if the freakin refs would keep calling stupid plays like that, had I been the HC of 49ers yesterday, I would say, "freakin refs, everyone put a hurtin on Russell.. .heck, if we gonna get the miscalls, we may as well put real pain on him"..
If they nfl can't get these calls right and they are truely conserned about player safety, they should put a height/weight limit on the qbs.

They are letting 5'11" dudes stand there and get hit by 300 pounders and that is supposed to be safe? Its like allowing a featherweight to fight a heavyweight.

If the little soft qbs can't take hits, prohibit them from playing. It makes way more sense then to just make vague, ambiguous, subjective rules which the refs can never be right.
The NFL changed the rules without doing anything about the players and their instincts. That's the problem.

The Zone is comical 1001 excuses for Kaepernick's horrid play, but lets ride the refs because they miss calls where an inch matters that they get to view once at full speed. I am the only one in here who defends the officials, they are not the problem. The lack of a system where penalties, especially the 15 yard and or automatic first down variety can be reviewed is. All 15 yarders need to be reviewed and that should include any pass interference of 15 yards or more. The referees are human viewing the game from field, level calls will be blown or missed that will never change.

Or give the HCs an extra-flag in order to give them the opportunity to review a call.

They can't, they'd be subject to lawsuits. What they need is a waiver signed by all that it's their choice to play and the NFL is void of any responsibilities should they get seriously injured. Of course that shouldn't negate the possible lawsuits IF the teams doctor allows a player to continue playing in spite of his injuries. Take for example Tony Romo. HE shouldn't be playing because one serious hit could be paralyzing.

I just have a feeling that this is Jerry Jone's call and he should be held responsible if Romo suffers a more serious injury.
I've long said that personal fouls should be reviewable for two reasons. First players wallets are subject to penalty. Second 15 yards is a lot. I say innocent until proven guilty. They should go to the video and have to prove the players is guilty then assess penalty. If they can't by video. No foul

You're right, the zone is comical. This is a thread about the blown call, yet once again someone tries to make it a Kap thread.

Want to talk about the call? Post here..

Not that hard to understand, bud.

They wont take the game out of the officials hands because then they could not control the outcome of the game.
I know all will laugh at the statement but think about it... The NFL has billions of dollars to implement the best camera systems
in the world in the endzone and every angle on the field, and get data related basically instantaneously to the booth back down to the
refs... but they don't do it. Why not?

Look at the NFCCG last year. Besides blown calls, look at the clock issues when the SeaCawks had the ball. They should have
got a delay or had to use a time out or hurry a play in, but no, they hang out and the clock runs but no delay? Why would that be?

They don't have to change any other challenge rule so therefore it would have no more affect as far as lengthening the game.

Why they don't do it is beyond me other than the NFL trying to protect the NFL officials integrity. But they do need to accept the fact that OFFICIALS make mistakes and when they're judging a play in real time mode, they CAN'T always get it right. Therefore, they don't need to be ashamed of making the bad calls when it can be overturned. They actually look bad now that they can't overturn these things and then the league office calls them out.

THIS however doesn't excuse the 49er's for playing the way they have been the last few weeks. The point is that they should NOT have lost to the lesser talented teams like Chicago, Raiders and the Rams. Granted they've had a hell of a lot of injuries, but the plays of Kaepernick and Davis has hurt the team a lot. Mix in Roman's INABILITY to make the necessary changes in the 2nd half ... and there went the season!

You can't hit the QB high and you can't hit him low. It is impossible to hit him in the middle without your helmut touching him. It is ridiculous.

The NFL won't do anything about it. The only calls that are reviewable are the so called non judgement calls. So Called illegal hits, holding, pass interference.... are not reviewable. They don't want the refs "judgement" to be in question.

This whole season has been bad with the refs for us. Usually it evens out during a season but this season has been one screwing after another. Some games and some years you get the short end of the stick but this year has been hell. I can remember worse games but not worse seasons with the refs blowing calls against us.

The calls that were absolute b******t and had the most impact on the game were the 2 personal foul calls against Reid. How the f**k is that play at the sideline any god damn different than the play Kam concussed Vernon on a few years back? Both caught a ball and were clearly going out, Kam no flag Reid flagged. WTF.

Players have pulled some amazing tip toe jobs down the sideline. Until they are out they are in and you can light them the f**k up with a legal hit like Reid laid down. I knew what the outcome was going to be the moment that flag flew.

That personal foul against Reid for hitting a player out of bounds was comeplete bs. A player is considered in bounds until he establishes himself out of bounds, i.e. a part of his body touching out of bounds. That was a bad call and a costly penalty that had an effect on the outcome.

BobS has been through a ton in his life so his perspective here is, "No excuses. Period." I respect the hell out of that mentality and it should be the very mentality all our players and coaches have.

BUT, to dismiss these well-documents critical calls at critical junctures of games (usually the last 4 minutes) over all these years as commonplace or human error or as just player execution issues is completely missing the boat. Completely.

To add...yes, that Bears game also was the most penalties in history. The NFL was sending a clear pissed-off message IMHO re: their unhappiness with how we handled the Ray-situation; How ironic, if only his last name were, Lewis, right? Then all the string of illegal contact calls (hands to the face) penalties on Brooks on National TV to send the early-season message that these will be called this year, etc. Illegal contacts up 10-fold, etc. It ALL has a purpose and an agenda.

Is there really ANY question anymore as to how the NFL "influences" the refs like pawns for agendas anymore, from penalties enforcements, to keeping games close, creating the best drama, to possibly trying to create the best matchups, etc.? All this is done with the intent of generating revenue, WWE-style. American's love drama and matchups! And nothing is more tied to Vegas than the NFL.

Mike Florio made, what I think, is actually a good point about this. If they reviewed the hit they'd need "indisputable visual evidence" to overturn. I'm not sure reviewing the call would've made any difference, especially with Holcadoodoo saying that the call was correct after the game.

To me, the review system is just about maxed out. You guys really want 4 hour games while they review the roughing calls? What they need to do is hire full time professional refs and perhaps some younger guys who can actually see. They need to treat refs in the NFL like true professionals - the best in the world at what they do. Reviewing is just gonna slow the game down even more (Yayyy more commercials!) and not even necessarily change the calls. Stop with the goddamn band-aids and get the s**t right.

I've never been rich, but I've worked with plenty of rich people and they always seem to want to cheap out when there's an issue. Just fix the damn problem it'll probably save you money and headache in the long run. The refs (and rules) are the biggest problem with the NFL right now. It's not hard to fix, it just might cost a few extra dollars.
