Why doesn't Bryant Young ever get mentioned?

Funnyiest one was vs(cant remeber the other team) and Sapp got 60 yards of Fouls just by himself. In 1 drive on back to back to back plays

How the hell did the 49ers have top 10 overall picks in the 1994 and 1995 drafts?? I just noticed BY was drafted 7th overall in '94 and I believe JJ stokes was #10 overall the next draft.

I get that these were obviously trades, but how did that work out exactly?

I just thought of the Charles Haley trade but Dallas was already a SB winner by then.

Young and McGinest were easily the best picks in the 1st round. While I loved Floyd as a player, I can only imagine if the 49ers had taken Isaac Bruce in that 1st round instead of him.



49ers completely blew it in the 1995 draft. Trading up for Stokes cost them their 1996 1st rounder as well. Stokes was a stud receiver from UCLA but instead the 49ers could have had.....Warren Sapp, Hugh Douglas, James Stewart, Ty Law, Derrick Brooks.


In 1996 they could have had of course, Ray Lewis, Amani Toomer, Mike Alstott, Lawyer Milloy, Brian Dawkins...etc instead of Israel Ifeanyi.


If in 1994 they had gotten Young and Bruce

1995 they had stayed pat and taken CB Bobby Taylor.

With Lewis and Dawkins in 1996.



Who knows how long their window might have stayed open.







That 1994 2nd round was outstanding, Bruce, Larry Allen, Kevin Mawae, Jason Sehorn, Marcus Spears, Charlie Garner...........

The window would've stayed open through at least the end of the 90s/early 00s if we drafted even 2-3 of those guys.

BY rarely gets mentioned on a national stage. I remember being scared/sad when he broke his leg against the Giants. Think it might have been on MNF.

Mitchell and Ness actually posted a question asking which players' jersey the fans want. I posted BY, TO and Hearst in the 96/98 style.

I believe the NFL asked teams to try and not retire numbers so much because roster sizes are increasing and all that. Teams will make some numbers unavailable, like somebody already said, but not necessarily retire them.

Because he made the pro bowls in wrong years

Are you saying that they should retire Vernon Davis' and Joe Staley's #s?

Sapp as first ballot HOF I believe with 96.5 sacks so no reason Bryant Young at 89.5 or Justin Smith (at 87) now shouldn't be considered and eventually get in. Might take awhile but they deserve it imo. Sure you look at them at 41 and 47th all time but just about all the guys ahead of them played DE or OLB which is much easier to get sacks at than 3-4 DE or NT. Justin got half his sacks at 4-3 DE so might be a longer shot but Young I believe all his came from 4-3 DT or 3-4 DE. Did he ever play 4-3 DE? At the very least they both should be borderline hall of very good. I pretty much think of Young as our first Justin Smith. One day I looked up the guys ahead of them for sacks and I believe 5ish or so are DT/3-4 DE guys and all or most were in the HOF.

I wish we could have had Justin for his entire career
