Pretty good blog. Gives some insight to what Wight didn't play in playoffs. Seems like a team player and good fit w/ the Niners
i read that earlier, he seems like a super nice dude actually
Read it too. I enjoyed seeing him on the team. Would like to have him back.
Great read. I really hope we give this guy an opportunity to come back and play for us. I thought he played very well when he was in. Also Brown may not be back and Rogers could be cut, so why not give Wright another shot. He won't be expensive either and is obviously a vet who will work his ass off to help this team win a championship.

Great read. Didn't even know he was a hometown kid.

Niners need to keep this guy. I'm pretty sure he wants to stay being a hometown kid. If they plan on letting Rogers walk because he wont take a reduced salary keeping E. Wright is a priority. T. Brown's market value might be too high as well. Who knows how Cully is going to come back from the knee especially early in the season. That leaves Brock and D.Morris. Tender Cox and re-sign Wright.
Brock, Cully, Cox, Wright, and Morris seems like a good start to the offseason. Add 1 or 2 corners in the draft and I'd be comfortable with that group going into next year.

I'm really hoping this guy can come back. He has the talent to start at CB (and experience) or can play nickel. It also will lessen our need to draft a CB early and allow us to focus on WR or safety. He shouldn't be an expensive resign and I hope we get the deal done. We also don't know what Culliver will look like next season as well. But whether he is or isn't fully healed, having Chris Culliver, Tramaine Brock, Eric Wright, Perrish Cox, and Darryl Morris is a pretty nice group of corners before we add any others in the draft. We probably will be able to take a guy later (5th round or lower) to develop and put on the practice squad or even possibly keep as a 6th CB.

Agreed! I would love to have him back...esp. now that he's had time to digest the playbook and got some reps on the field.

I think it will either be Cox or Wright but I wouldn't rule out re-signing both. Both will be pretty cheap around 1 mil for a 1-2 years. I see it going as Brock, Culliver, 1st/2nd Rd, Cox/Wright, 3rd-4th Rd Pick or Cox/Wright (if we re-sign both), Morris.

I don;t see why not. You get a guy that who can potentially be a starter, yet pay him backup money. And to top it off, Eric Wright WANTS to be here. Win-win for all involved.

I'm still hoping we re-sign him , Sounds like Brown and Rogers are out the door , it would be a smart move to have a veteran CB on the roster ...Brock and Wright could be our veteran anchors of the DB's ...I hope Culliver can come back strong , but I still say we should keep Wright and draft a couple of DB's before the 3rd round

Having Eric Wright on the roster basically allows us to draft a corner later as you suggested and we can possibly pick Dix if he happens to fall that low in the first, giving us an instant starter at safety and 3 starting caliber corners on the roster, all on decent contracts.
Also, imagine if Wright were to surprise everyone and beat out Culliver for a starting job next season. It gives us more leverage when it comes to his negotiations.

The countdown to FA is almost here! I'm very curious to see what under-the-radar (low expectations) players Baalke brings in this year who end up playing huge roles for us.
RG Alex Boone - from PS to best G
CB Tramaine Brock - from UDFA to #1 CB
S C.J. Spillman - straight to a top ST coverage player
C Jonathan Goodwin - a "meh" signing but turned out well for us esp. when we needed him
NT Ian Williams - from PS to starting NT
LB Michael Wilhoite - great ST player and critical backup for both Willis/Bowman
K Phil Dawson - a "meh" signing who broke records for us last year
LS Kevin McDermott - from UDFA to starter over a legend
S Bubba Ventrone - a "meh" signing who panned out as a top ST player
WR Kassim Osgood - a "meh" signing who panned out as a top ST gunner
CB Darryl Morris - from UDFA to our top ST gunner and will compete for the slot CB position this year
CB Perrish Cox - from the street to helping us beat GB in GB
WR Anquan Boldin - for a 6th rounder? Turned out to be THE best FA pickup of 2013.
