This is something Alex in his tenure with the 49ers would yell at the line. Colin now does the same. What exactly does this mean pre-snap? Or is it nothing? Any ideas? Have always been curious about this. (even though it's a small thing)

i think its just a time sink as they wait for the play clock to reach 1-2 seconds left

Yah, I think it's really just a cadence or rhythm thing and every team might do it differently. Peyton Manning always yells "Hurry hurry" before the ball's snapped.

Wouldn't it also solidify the timin for the opponent? When they hear red 80, won't they also know the ball will be snapped?
