We could split it however we wanted or is it a straight down the middle 1.5 each year?

I didn't know that Brooks had so much dead money on his contract over the next two years. To be honest I would prefer keeping Brooks next year. 4.5 in dead money to save 3mil doesn't seem near as good as just having him on squad. If Lemonier can turn into a pure pass rusher that would be a very potent rotation. I would cut him in 2015 for sure though.

With the recent developments this season, do you think it's possible that we can resign Kaep to a contract similar to the extension Aaron Rodgers got in 2008? Especially consider how we all (myself included) may have underestimated his need for Michael Crabtree. I'm not so sure we can just let that guy walk anymore. Crabs got his catches with an aging Randy Moss next to him and a seldom used Vernon Davis.

I think it's very possible he gets a Rodgers deal back from 08. I would go either 4yr 65M, or 6yr 90-95M, no more.

Aldon wise, I think his depends on his rehab, and how well he gets over those demons.

Crabs wise, I would throw a certain amount, I wouldn't overpay. Maiocco's latest article says he wants 11-12M a yr. Now that's a lot for a WR. 5yr deal would be around 55M-60M, and even more on a 6yr deal. I think he wants more than Wallace got. I would NOT go that far, and I doubt we would.

Working on a contract value piece, either whole as one, or per player.

Price keeps dropping for Kap and Aldon to me. For you guys thinking we would give Kap 120 million look what happened to the Ravens. It just handicaps the team and you can't fill in the other holes as well as you would like. Really what the h is the difference between 90 and 120 million. Yeah I get it 30 mil but 90 is more than enough. I'm not sure I give Kap even 90. Right now he's playing like a 60-70 mil QB tops and that's being generous. I'm definitely waiting until late next year before I officially sign him; can negotiate ealier. I want to make sure he plays well this year and next. As for Aldon let's make sure he comes back with his head right. If not do you really want to give him 70-80 mil? Also, depends on how well Lemonier does. Would give us a little leverage. Not saying Lemonier is going to be Aldon but if Lemonier plays well enough maybe you think about getting a few firsts for Aldon or a 1st and 2nd/3rd and letting him go after 2015 or 2016 after tagging him. If we use that 2015 option we can tag him 2 years after that so we could have him through 2017 without giving him a deal. We will see but let's start with getting his head right before we fork over the big bucks.

I think after this season we should look into Hunter and Miller as they would be a little cheaper. Then towards the end of the year I work on Culliver if he is playing well and comes back healthy. Also, Kilgore towards the end of the year if he plays well at C next year (if he is the c of the future). Try to get those 4 locked up before 2015 FA. Crabtree I'd see how he does the rest of this year and into next year before working on him. Iupati we started talks with; I wonder what he wants? Again, Kap towards the middle of the 2014 season I start... Aldon if we have a 2015 option I don't worry about him until mid way through the 2015 season.

So to make that easier: Now: Iupati | After This Year: Miller, Hunter, 2013 FAs | Into 2014 Season (If Healthy/Playing Well): Kilgore, Culliver, Kap, Crabtree | Into 2015 Season: Aldon (If He Has 2015 Option, Otherwise Into 2014 Season Start, Tag for 2015 is Possible)

Edit: Kilgore if you wanted to could do after this year because at worst he is a good 6 or 7th OL. Maybe we get him cheaper than if he starts at center and plays well then we sign him. Signing him before the season at backup OL money then having him start could make him a bargain if he becomes the starting C. Just not sure his agent would go for it but I don't think Kilgore cares much. He's a good ole country boy; I doubt he lives high off the hog. Seems like a down to Earth kind of guy.

After the crap that Kap and Aldon have been through this year, these extensions are looking a lot more reasonable.

Yeah, Dahl we gave too much to. Nice to have a vet who can back up both safety spots, play ST and help teach the young guys but not sure if we paid him like he might start or what. 1.8x mil next year... If we cut him we'd save 1.4 mil with a 466k hit. Seems like it's possible he restructures or gets cut. Although, if we go with a rookie SS might be a good idea to have someone like him backing that player up just in case. Also, could use another guy to help teach the SS like Whitner did with Reid. Reid hopefully can help the rookie SS but isn't exactly a vet. Not sure Spillman can teach too much; he's mainly played FS I believe.

A lot depends on Mario coming back strong, if not, he is gone. Dahl I can see cut like Gore_21 said. But his numbers aren't high IMO.

Looking at some of the numbers for these QBs from your website (AB81Rules), I wonder are these GMs thinking about the longterm financial health of their teams.

I have no idea what the cap will be in 2019, but I can't fathom committing 10-20% of your payroll to one player.

It can be a cap killer. by 2019, lets hope it's near 180M, cause if it's flat, teams are screwed.

Saw your write up on Kaps potential numbers Jason. Right now I wouldn't pay him a dime over 15 and honestly 10-12 seems more reasonable now. If his play picks up obviously the numbers can change but I would give him "Alex" money if we needed a deal done today.

Alex money won't cut it and there are way too many teams that will give him much more
