Evidently, all Kaepernick has to do is get the "little things" right and he'll be tearing it up. I think that's a good sign.
We're going to need that long ball this weekend.
We need Frank Gore more than the long ball this weekend

Why can't we do both?

Because Frank Gore is not a long ball receiver.

Well, you know what? You're probably not going to get another 185 yard rushing performance out of the Niners. Maybe, but I don't expect it. This is the season end Frank Gore and not the first game Frank Gore. And, knowing they're going against a guy with just 8 games under his belt, I expect the Packers defense to stack up against the run and dare the Niners to pass. What I'm hoping will happen is that Kaepernick will gouge them for a few long pass plays and they'll have to back off a little. And, I'm hoping we'll see a few new wrinkles like plays designed to get LJM in space in the flat so that Packers linebackers are forced to try and tackle him one-on-one. That should be interesting because compared to the Niner linebackers, the Packers linebackers are slow.
I think the key to the game is whether or not the Niner defense can be even near as effective as they were in the first game. Going into the fourth quarter, the Niners had held the Packers to 7 points. And, we all remember that 7 of their 15 4th quarter points were bogus. So, the defense in that first game was spectacular.

Yeah, if I were GB, I'd concentrate on stopping the run and the run out of the read-option. The theory will be the GB passing game vs 9er D is better than 9er passing gave vs GB D. At this point, it's obvious what each side need to do, and it's going to be up to our D and Kap to win this one.

I agree. And, if the Cardinals game was any indication of where the Niners offense was going, they'll come out heavily stressing the pro set and gouge them right off the bat with some play-action passes to make them back off. This is assuming the Packers actually do load up the box at the beginning. You never know with Capers, though. He may be thinking that everyone expects them to do that and not do it, in which case the Niners can go ahead and just run on them.

This isn't Madden, fellas (no offense). The players were EXHAUSTED. Two back-to-back intense match-ups on the road in cold, rainy ass weather. The Hawks got up early, they blocked a FG for a TD, and that's your ball game.
We are coming into the divisional game very rested. Everyone on defense is healthy, save for Justin Smith. We have yet to lose an integral part of our offense to injury (o-line is intact, starting skill position players are a go).
Be optimistic. Hell, the Packers lost Nick Perry to a season-ending injury, which hurt them tremendously. We have our ENTIRE DEFENSE (minus maybe Justin Smith) ready to go. The Packers got BLOWN OUT by the New York Giants, just like the 49ers!
Smile damnit. We won 11 games. We're favored at home. BELIEVE.

I'd like it a lot if the Packers stacked the box. Kaep completes over 60% of his throws that travel 20 yards or more in the air.
Please stack the box GB.

Historically, the Pack often beat the 49ers by jumping out to big early leads (helped by big turnover like Adam Walker's fumble in '97, or by big play like Desmond Howard's punt return for a TD in '98).
We cannot fall behind early to this GB team, can't give up any big play on ST or D, and can't lose the turnovers battle.
Also, our team fought hard to gain the home field advantage. Our crowd must make this advantage count by being as loud as possible.

Defense is going to have to turn it up a notch or two. If they can do that we win.

EDDIE EDDIE EDDIE !!!!!
"I don't care who agrees with me or doesn't agree with me, and that includes sportswriters, I guess, the 49ers are way better than the Packers," DeBartolo said.
