If this is 53 man, which is unlikely, here are my inactives.

QB Tolzien, RB James, WR Jenkins, OL Looney, NT Williams, CB Brock and TE Celek, if all healthy of course, if hurt, then sub out Jenkins or James for Ginn and Celek for Dobbs.

Sorry to see Bakhitari go. The kid doesn't have the most talent, but he hustles like hell. Someone will pick him up. You know Pete Carroll loves signing ex-49ers.

Josh Johnson won't be out of work long either. He'll never be a star, but he can help someone. Heck, he might even be able to start in Cleveland!

Some of these other dudes we'll see on the practice squad.

VD, as dangerous as he is on deep routes, has not been able to develop into the Jason Whitten-type TE. Agree and miss the typical WCO TE, who slides into the open area for dump offs by the QB. Smith really needs a guy he can count on. Perhaps Celek can fill the bill.

Iagree. Sorry and surprised at Bahktiari's cut. Also at Cewlek over Reuland> Glad Haqrbaugh didn't let his prior connection to Johnson to blind him to Tolzien's greater long-term value. Always feel bad for all the hopefuls whose dreams were bashed, albeit only temporarily for some.

Value is the correct word. Not only that Tolzien has potential as player but the following was also a factor in the decision:

The 49ers signed Josh Johnson to a two-year, $2.115 million contract in the offseason. He will receive the $350,000 signing bonus but not the remainder of his scheduled pay. Tolzien is scheduled to make $465,000 as a second-year player.

49ers save $1.3 million by signing Tolzien.

Salary + Tolzien has potential + he's younger

Celek reminds me a lot of his brother. Not spectacular, but finds ways to make plays, finds soft spots in the zone, can be a pain in the ass for defenses to deal with, does a lot of things well. I'm not entirely convinced that they'll dump Celek, not with Delanie Walker a free agent next year. If anything I see McBath as the next man to go down.

I think week 1 Ginn is still out Jenkins gets to play which will be a great trial by fire

if alex leaves next year ,maybe we can trade to get Josh J. back ,he knows 49er play book well and he is a fan favorite.

we wont keep 5 RB's active and when it comes to ST Dixon beats out James
