God I loved these two..... we were spoiled for those few years. :/

It's simply insane to think about how many great players we lost in that 2015 offseason.



I did always laugh at that picture since it included guys like Bubba Ventrone, Trindon Holliday, Alfonso Smith, etc...along with Aldon, Willis, Justin, Frank.

But arguably lost 4 HOF level players in one offseason along with some really good players.

We were definitely spoiled and boy did it suck to have it all go away so quick.

I still remember the 13' NFCCG when he wrecked our tackles and stripped sacked Russ a few times. The man was a freak of nature. I just wish the Niners handled the situation a little better. At the end of the day it appears he overdosed. Grant Cohn's reporting stated we have to wait for the toxicology report on Aldon to really determine if it was crack, opioids or combination of both

The Niners gave him multiple chances before finally releasing him. He continued to have problems afterwards as well, so it clearly wasn't just a Niners problem of handling things. The guy had some demons that he couldn't overcome unfortunately. And where would Grant be getting this information from exactly? That sounds like extreme speculation. The last guy to see Aldon alive said he didn't believe he was on drugs. Either way, it's just a sad story all around.

The media pressure on SF to cut bait with Aldon was extreme. It's amazing the Niners held on to him as long as they did considering the very serious drunk driving incident. The league, NFLPA and team offer an incredible amount of services to help guys, including transportation at any time. This idea that the 49ers organization could have done more for him strains reason, IMO.

Sounds F**ked up, The reality of life is that we have no one to blame but ourselves for where our decisions have led us.

The dude was a star. Became a millionaire. Had everything in the palm of his hands, but made poor choices. He was given multiple opportunities and still made poor choices. Feel bad for the dude, but thats really what you can expect.

I know but let's face it the Niners don't exactly have a history of the most player friendly front office. We try to stay on top of our players at all times which is why we rarely get players that get arrested in Seattle

They actually have the reputation as one of the most player friendly front offices in league history. Sure, they're tough on negotiations when it comes to contracts, but their reputation for providing players with support during and after their careers is excellent. They arguably have the best alumni program in the NFL.
