Anthony Davis is not a bust...Period! | Page 4

For the casual fan that doesn't realize, Anthony Davis is 22....Thats right 22 years old. He couldn't legally drink alcohol his rookie year. He won't be 23 until early in the season (October) when he'll be starting his 3rd season at right tackle. We drafted him after his Junior year and he entered the league at the spry age of 20. He is a man-child and on his way to being a man. We drafted him for not only his enormous size but his enormous potential. I dont see any reason to think he can't reach the same high ceiling as when we drafted the young man. We knew starting two rookies was full of risks but it paid off, and will continue to do so. 2011 was the best line play wev'e had in over a decade and will only be better this year. I believe Anthony Davis still has the potential to be our best lineman someday.... But that might have to wait until he's say 28....Either way, this kid could play 15 years and still be only 35. He is younger then many of the seniors available in next months draft, can we quiet the bust talk please,

Well, this season, we will have a full training camp, and Harbaugh loves competition. Whoever blocks Brooks or Smith more consistently wins.

Oldman9er, thanks for the suggestion. I've been so focused on filling a gap at RG, that I haven't even looked at RTs that might fall to us in the draft.

In general though, a RG has less value in the draft than a RT. And, a RG's job is simpler than a RT's, so a rookie is more likely to make less mistakes at RG than RT.

He is not a bust but not that good yet. He's getting better but we need a good rt in order to win the sb since it looks like rg may be average

Did anyone know Anthony Davis got 1 All-Pro vote this year? i just saw that, pretty legit..i'm really looking forward to seeing him and Iupati develop into dominant players, which they are more than capable of becoming.

And, btw, Staley received 11 votes and Iupati had 1 as well. good stuff

Look at it like the young kids do... in Madden, let's say that

RG = Kilgore = 68
RT = Davis = 81

at RG, I truly feel Davis would = 89 and potentially max out in the mid-90's.

I think Boone has shown to be nearly flawless while playing spot OT on both sides. At this moment, I think Boone is.. let's say, a 78.

So, what would everyone prefer?

RG = Kilgore = 68
RT = Davis = 81

or

RG = Davis = 89 with potential to be in the mid-90's quickly
RT = Boone = 78 with potential to be in the mid-90's quickly

Maybe I am just higher on Boone than others... maybe I simply don't think Davis would get much better if left at RT.

It is just an opinion. I didn't start this thread and am not gonna further push some agenda. If we do nothing but upgrade at RG, I'm still happy enough.

but in madden kilgore is like a 56 and davis is a 77 boone is like a 62

To solve this issue...please go back and watch the week 10 game vs the NY Giants. Davis absolutely shut down Justin Tuck all game long. The same Justin Tuck who is considered the best defensive lineman on a superbowl defense. Davis reminds me A LOT of Erik Williams...only quicker with better feet and much stronger. The fact that he is only 22 years old right now is the scariest aspect of it all. People asking for Boone to start need to remember that this team needs a backup tackle at both positions, which Boone fills quite capably. There is a reason Davis was drafted where he was and he is starting to show that with each passing week he plays.
