I read that Moss was still running 4.3's for the Saints in a work out, I not only want to see more passing I want us stretching the field. Hopefully the addition of Moss will help Alex improve even more.

Gawd! I freak'n hope so. If we can get this team to be in the lower 10 offense in the league, we would win by at least 14 pts against just about everyone we play, with this defense clamping down.

Having mini-camps and a full TC, to say nothing of it being the second year in this offense, it seems very likely that the offense will begin to fire on all cylinders. They just need to get the WRs into camp and work hard in order to develop chemistry. VD became an explosive guy once he learned the offense and his long TDs will really help any WRs coming in.
If Moss can stretch the field opposite VD then the middle will begin to open up and Gore will have a better year. Much depends on Smith being able to read and react quickly to punish any D that stacks the box. I realize he has a good record against the blitz but teams still stacked the box last year and the middle was seldom used by WRs. Morgan ran some slants early but then there was a drop off after his injury.
Harbaugh has expressed a desire for a balanced O so may it be so!

The overall philosophy is not going to change. This is a team that is built to run, shares its strengths at RB and TE (offensively), and is one big RG away from an intimidating line insofar as run blocking. We've also got a good fullback. IMO, the WR's role will certainly be increased, but the other objective is merely to take some of the pressure off the offensive line and running game. The more we can make defenses hesitate about putting 7-8 guys in the box the better.

Yes.
But we will stay true to our core - run first. When we keep the enemy's D on the fiield longer we tend to win more often.
Having receiivers who can get seperation will open up the long game, the slants and the running game.

we will run first, look to kill you deep on PA passes , and if not crabs, walker, miller, and an as yet unnamed player will gobble up the YAC

To answer OP, no. I think they realize our wideouts in general were a serious liability and made the offense pretty one dimensional in 2011. If our receiver would have dropped 50% less passes last year, I bet AS's passing yards would have topped 4000 yds-not that that is all that matters. But I think it would have made the difference in a better over all record and a 6th SB appearance. I think they would just like to have some balance. They watch the film, they see the drops, the lack of separation. I don't care who's pulling the trigger, we need better receivers.

we became more of a passing offense late in the year. i think we'll start out far ahead of where we were last year, but I do think we'll build the offense from the running game.

Moss and lloyd out wide, crabtree in the slot across the middle, and Vernon Davis running the post!!! Yea Alex will have a great year.
