Seems a bit pricey for an older CB to me. I think his INT success had more to do with the scheme -- letting him run underneath routes with help over the top rather than asking him to play pure man coverage. But then these big CB contracts make the numbers look reasonable I guess. I hope there are some contract clauses that let the 49ers release him "penalty free" in a couple of years if his play drops off.

Injuries are a part of the game. The Giants dealt with tonnes. After this year, while talent does matter, coaching plays so much more a factor. As Harbaugh says, "Next man up", if needed.

Agreed. Plus we were skating on thin ice ALL year with literally, nobody to back up Brooks and McDonald and big drop offs at other positions. Now the backups have had a year under this system and we'll be adding additional depth so an injury to any of our key players, there won't be as much as a drop off and guys may not have to play hurt and can take their time and heal properly.

oNo, $10.65M is. He got a 5M signing bous, his 2012 salary of $3.9M is guaranteed, and $1.75M of his 2013 base salary is guaranteed.

2013- $7.1M
2014- $7.85M
2015- $8.85M

Base value of $29.3M, like reported. He can be cut pretty much after 2012, though I think he stays at least through 2013.

Rogers 2013 base salary becomes guaranteed fully if on roster on april 1st, 2013.

His roster bonuses are tied into the active 46 man gameday roster. Like Brooks', Willis', etc. are.
