Just in: Carlos Rogers on Sirius - Crabtree has long ways to go...

WTW but I think he is replaceable for the right person. He has had flashes of showing promise and then seems to revert back to a effortless wr. I think he has skills, but I don't really think he wants to showcase them here nearly as much as he would somewhere like Dallas. I hope I'm wrong, and hope 2012 is a serious break out season for him, but I think the place he is most likely to break out would be in the slot not the 1 or 2 position.

I agree. His total production this year was actually very good when you consider he basically missed 2 games (left early in the home opener, missed the Dallas game) and we threw so little (only Denver attempted less passes than us).

He really picked up his play in the final 7 games of the season. During that time span he had 41 catches for 532 yards & 3 TD's. Over 16 games that projects to about 94 catches, 1232 yards, 7 TD's.

He's very close to breaking out in a big way. It is absolutely essential that he participates in OTA's and training camp this year.

Nah I think he's surprised he got that much money lol. I think he's thinking some of that should've gone to him. He said "get what you can get" in other words "get as much as you can".

They're likely going to have to give him 5 years to sign him. Somebody will, and he knows it. Possibly a reduced rate player option on the 5th year. Who knows. But I think Rogers will want big guaranteed money in order to come down on the years.

This is his last big contract. He's going to shoot for the moon.

I'm with you on that. But even if he signs for 5 years, it's unlikely he will last that long with that kind of salary. I think as long as there is not too much guaranteed money tied into the deal, we have a way out if his performance declines due to age.

Yeah, could do a backloaded contract or an option to void that last year if we do 5 years. I honestly feel he has 3 years or less as a starter (especially on this team). Probably 2... as a #3 though I think he could finish out year 3/4. He isn't as quick as he use to be though. I don't expect him to get 6 ints every year and if he gets burnt and stops getting the ints people will turn on him especially if he gets a big money deal.

Crabtree is gonna be a STUD, watch. He had a good season this year despite being our only legitimate WR that was active all year. Just because he didnt have a great playoff shouldnt take anything away from what he did in the regular season (especially towards the end) I see a bright future for him!

He ain't taking 7 per season. He'll be looking for north of 10 or 11 per.

I would LOVE to be wrong on this, but he wants to get PAID. He might give the 49ers a 500K per season discount, bu make no mistake....he plays a premiere position that teams go crazy for. If the 49ers don't give him what he wants, some team will.

Could be Marvin. If he wants that I would give him 3 years 25-28 tops. He's been on a losing team before and if he wants top money most likely it will be a bad team so he can do that. Most good teams don't have the money or don't spend like that in free agency. I would just pick someone else up or draft a CB in round 1 or 2 and then another one later. So even though I like him as a player and person he has to be reasonable and realize at his age he can't expect a young premiere corners salary.

You're one of my most respected posters so I value your opinion. You are probably right but if I'm the 49ers I'm not paying a 31 (by the time the season starts) 10 million a season for 5 years. P.S. Easy Marvin, there is a difference between a young Mario Williams and an old Carlos Rogers.. but I get what you were trying to say.
