Ok, you guys kidded me, but no question, my post was, well, anything but succinct. Here it is again. Crabtree fans won't like this.
1) we are desperate for a #1 WR. Currently craps is playing good enough for #4, maybe #3, making him grossly overpaid @$4.5 mil/yr
2) Baalke & Harbaugh have shown great reluctance to break the bank with one player's salary, eg, Wallace
3) Wallace was tendered a $2.75 mil/yr contract, so Pissburg can match anything over that. If we offered $9 mil/yr and traded (or cut) craps we have an additional
$4.5 mil/yr for payroll, and B&H would then have an addtional $4.5 to put toward Wallace, hence having to come up with only an addtional $4.5 mil/yr until craps' contract would have ended in two yrs.. By that time two yrs out, we would have hopefully drafted a bunch of good-hands-guys-WRs, and could then replace Wallace with home grown talent. Meantime we get our #1 WR and bring a bunch more UDFAs and late rd picks in to be one of the other 3 WRs plus Morgan.
Is that clear enough, and do you think it would be doable/workable?

That would work, Wallace and a bunch of number 2s and 3s like ginn Morgan even Eddie royal type would be good enough to win a sb pretty easily.
Versus
Crabtree and a second tier wr like garçon doucet......
We better get Colston if we can't get Wallace and vjax, because we need a true number one wr not a bunch of 2 s and 3 s. simple, we get a good wr, we win a Super Bowl.

Michael Crabtree would start on the majority of NFL Franchises except for the New York Giants, Pittsburgh Steelers, and maybe the Atlanta Falcons. Come on bro... #4?! You can't be serious...

Just as Smith played well this year and must continue to do so, Crabtree played well and must improve. His disappearance during the playoffs is not a good sign but that may say more about who was playing opposite than about his effort. Will be fun to see competition among the WRs this TC. I expect Morgan to be back and a new #1 (I hope).

Handsome one, amen to that bro on getting a #1 to go with a bunch of #2s and 3s...like you I don't care who it is. We just gotta have a #1 and a passle of #2s, 3s, 4s,until we find 2 or 3 that stick. Getting #1 is the key. Cutting craps to get him is one way to do it without breaking the bank.
XL, if you look at the circus catches craps made at mid season and then look at his output during playoffs, it is apparent he disappeared when the going got tough. That is not a #1, nor a #2, maybe a #3 and certainly a #4. What the boy needs is a good dose of being excited about playing for the 9ers, he needs to learn to fake, do comebackers, ie, learning how to separate. Right now he plays like a bona fide #4 in that he thinks running down the field gets him open...it doesn't. Fakes, stop and gos, comebackers....those get a WR open. Craps doesn't know that or he won't learn it , or worse, can't do it and we know the "Can't do it is b.s.". He has had ample time to read the syllabus by jerry Rice on how to get open, or separation, if you will. He has taken NO interest in asking the GOAT WR how to play the game. craps thinks he is going to get by with his college skills and his good looks. That doesn't happen in the nfl.

Not so sure about cutting or trading Crabs but I definitely agree with the above statements...
Cheers!

Are you 12? Or do you think your nicknames for everything are cute? As to the bolded statement really? A #3 or #4 that statement is complete b******t when he improved once again with an offense that does not favor the passing game. Also what makes you so sure that the guys we draft are going to be better than Crabtree? Homegrown talent and UDFA's? Jesus Christ

I asked him the same exact thing, his writing hurts my eyes so I've simply started skipping over his posts and all his goofy-ass nicknames. Crabtree isn't going anywhere, he's a very legit WR, he had some pretty good games last year, the problem is that the 49ers didn't have anybody legit playing opposite him. Add a guy like Garcon, draft someone in Rounds 3 or 4 for depth and this offense will show marked improvement.

This. Crabtree has played well enough considering the garbage he has had starting opposite him. In the playoffs he had Brett f'ing Swain or Kyle Williams....neither of those should be in the #2 position. I'm all in favor of signing a guy like Garcon or Meachem or drafting Marvin Jones in the 2nd to put someone capable on the other side. I think Crabtree will do considerably better with some more threats to loosen up coverage on him. Add Fleener as the 2nd TE and Garcon on the other side.......the points will start racking up.

Why aren't any of you analyzing who Crabtree is playing against? When he plays against a bad secondary he does well.....see rams and cards or Phil 2 years ago without Samuel or the raiders. When he plays against a good cb like Webster, he disappears. It's not his motivation or anything else. Sometimes all of you just have to accept that he is a good wr that can't beat better number one CBS that cover him.

Which is fine, and that's where you're supposed to have other guys who can step up and make big plays when that happens. VD is one guy, but that's all there is. If they can add another talented WR opposite Crabtree, you'll add another viable target, maybe even an upgrade at TE with a guy like Fleener, basically this team needs to create mismatches on offense, this past season VD was literally their only mismatch.
Getting rid of Crabtree isn't the solution, that's just retarded, coming out of college he was one of the best college WR's all-time, he hasn't lit the world up, but he's also been a good WR, getting rid of him is like having $5000, owing $50,000 and then blowing the former amount because its not what you actually need. Crabtree is a lock as a starter, just find someone else opposite him who can put pressure on a defense.

Yep... getting a legit threat opposite of Crabtree would take a lot of pressure off him and free him up a bit. Teans couldn't just focus on him and Vernon. It's hard to suceed at 1 when you got Kyle Williams, Ted Ginn, Swain, etc playing WR opposite of you. I am all for always looking to get better but until we have someone who is a legit replacement to him and then another legit WR opposite of that we need to keep him. The guy has had the best stats for a WR beside Bruce one year since TO and people are ready to throw him to the dogs when we have had Bryan Gilmore, Taylor Jacobs, Rasheed Marshall, Cedrick Wilson, Arnaz Battle, Otis Amey, Bryant Johnson, Darrell Jackson, etc. Pretty funny isn't it?
