Yeah you will know a superbowl is soon to follow if it is in the other endzone... both catches that failed to get another superbowl were in the opposite end zone of Montana's "catch". Which in retrospect is the only catch that actually mattered.

Being too young to have properly enjoyed the original catch or even the Young to T.O. catch the Smith to Davis catch meant the most to me emotionally. However in the grand scheme it meant nothing just like the Owens catch because there was no superbowl to follow it up with.

We need a catch in that end zone Montana hit Clark in damnit.... the other end zone is cursed... makes for some fun memories and emotional times but there arent any trophies or rings as a result.

I guess we need our niners to get to an NFC championship and make a new "catch" for it to really matter, and also make sure it's in the other end zone.. :(

What is interesting is Alex actually had the cleanest drive out of all three. Montana needed Elliot to make a few big runs. Young was nearly picked twice and almost slipped. Smith was just absolutely methodical on that last drive.

Obviously not taking anything away from Montana/Young but it's encouraging to see Smith lead a clean late 2 min drive.
