Good, then there would be no excuses when we knock Drew Brees and the Saints into oblivion

Bad weather would not be a valid excuse for them. To win the Super Bowl, you're SUPPOSED to play good football in bad weather conditions. The playoffs are in January. If postseason ball were meant to be played in good weather, they'd do it in July. The only way Brees will ever go deep into the playoffs is with indoor games.

No doubt SF has a great D, but I think it's gonna take more than 6 in the box to stop their run game. No the saints r not gonna rush for 150 in this game but they have 3 very capable backs. Although the smiths r very talented, bushrod our left tackle is no stranger to facing elite pass rushers, for example JPP , J abraham and sack leader J Allen. Niether one recorded a sack against him. Another thing the saints do very well is chipping with tight ends and running backs. I def respect the 9ers D however the saints can protect drew brees. If drew protects the ball against SF ball hawk D the saints should have no problem scoring 30+. Now ofcourse if drew throws a couple of picks or the saints have a few fumbles then it will be a different story. I'm more concerned about turnovers than SF being able to shut down the saints offense.

It should be a great game.

You fail to realize that no team in the league is less equipped to play outdoor football deep into winter than N.O. - see last year at pisspoor Seattle. N.O. has NEVER won a road playoff game and their SB run was done from the comfort of their dome No turf for that cute little offense and quick receivers. Brees' lack of a cannon is irrelevant in the dome but will seriously hinder his normally pinpoint accuracy in the wind. And your run game will give you nothing - as legendary as our run D was this year, it was even more legendary at home. We probably didn't even allow 3 yards per carry at home and probably didn't allow a single rusher to get more than 40 or so yards all year. Your D is already soft (and no Saints defender keeps o-coordinators up at night) and in the cold they are even softer - see tackle "attempts" on Marshawn Lynch...how will they handle a far superior back in Frank Gore? Crabtree should eat Porter alive for like 120+ yards. In short, no team scares me more if we had to play them in their house than the Saints but no team scares me less getting to play them at Candlestick than the Saints.

However, I will say, I love Carl Nicks. If I could add any non-QB to the Niners, it might be Nicks and then I'd shift Iupati to RG. But Justin Smith is even better than Nicks.

First the last time i checked the weather report it called for sunny and 65 with little wind. It was 65 in Louisiana today so I really don't think weather will be a factor. Last year Seattle game this years rams game gave nothing to do with sat game. The saints are a much different team today than in either of those 2 games. If i were you i would hope that Willis and co stop drew and co instead of hoping that this myth of not being able to play outdoors and on grass. In 06 Chicago was just a better team than the saints and it was an inexperienced team playing on the road. Last year the saints were down to their 7-8th string running backs but they still put up 38. With no j graham or sproles. The saint lost bc Seattle hit some big plays and won the game it had nothing to do with the weather. Gore and v Davis concern me more than Crabtree. Without turnovers any D will have trouble shutting down the saints O. The saints will not put up 40+ but they can put up 27-31. Will SF be able to match that is the question. I don't think so. The saints have held much better offenses to less than 30. DET 17,28 atl 23,16 giants 24 and Houston only put up 33 when they had all their horses. I would be surprised to see SF score 20 + on the saints.

Kyle Williams has been great in his limited playing time, he was buried on the depth chart until Edwards got hurt and missed a lot of games. Very elusive player with another gear when he gets into open space. Truth be told not many know our guys outside of Gore and Vernon. We just don't get a lot of media coverage.

Yeah, I'm familiar. I've watched every 49ers game this season. Gore is averaging 4.3 yards per carry and has 8 TDs this season. Hunter is averaging 4.2 yards per carry and has 2. Hunter looked good against Seattle in change-of-pace duties. Neither have me shaking with fear, though of course they are very talented.

Kyle Williams has a bright future, but he's not the kind of guy who keeps a defensive coordinator up at night.

Vernon Davis is probably the closest thing on your offense. And he's going against a defense that faces Jimmy Graham in practice every day. And he has a QB in his first playoff start chucking him the ball.

Anyone know how many guys on the 49ers have played in a playoff game before? I can't find the stats on that.
It's hilarious the more we get towards gametime the more people jumping on that Saints bandwagon.

Well, you're in for a surprise.
Weather will not be an issue unless the wind kicks up. It does funny things to longer passes and kicks.

Gonna be a good game. Welcome NO fans. I hope our niners add to the LSU blues you guys may be feeling, but regardless I do not think anyone can call this game. It will be about who wants it more and makes less mistakes.

49ers are going to play a hell of a game, I have no doubt. People are understandably concerned about a QB leading his team in his first playoff start against the Saints, I think, especially with Brees going for the Saints. Hope he does well and it goes down to the wire.

not too many- i know justin smith goodwin and akers has but i seriously think thats it

and youre kinda underestimating alex

he is extreelly clutch maybe only a handfull of qbs are probablly more clutch than him (brees is one of them)

but he has 5 comeback wins (4 on road) and one of the higher 2 min drill rating in nfl

also scores when we need to

I'm asking a serious question. It's been nine years since the 9ers went to the playoffs, so it's a legit concern.

Akers, of course. Goodwin.

Justin Smith and Akers are the only ones that I can think of. Most of these guys are home grown so they dont have much experience in the post season.

Williams if he can stay healthy might turn into a nasty threat down the line. You gotta remember this is still a new system for the O so they haven't hit the full potential of the system. What you have to look at, although they don't "scare" you, they have done enough to go 13-3 and every team has said the same thing you have.

If you have been watching every game like you said, Alex played in some tough situations... And overcame them... There's your experience right there

Playoff experience is the most overrated piece of garbage I have ever heard of. Tebow had all of that playoff experience to take down Big Ben and the Steelers right? Rodgers faced a team who had won 2 super bowls in last years title game and still came out on top.
crabtree will have a big game is all i know
