this offense will be much better next year than this season---the players on the team will be better/ the coaching/strategy will be better/ new players will be added. I have no doubt the Niners will be a Super Bowl contender for the next few seasons--this year may be the worst team the Niners will have in the next 5-7 years. And we could still win the Super Bowl this season--not impossible.

I was in full reminisce mode. 49er fans from the 80's are not used to having a "game managing" type QB. We have the backs and the WR's just not the QB. If our defense does not play lights out like last night, then it can't cover for the sputtering offense.
joe montana was a game managing type qb
he was asked to do practically the same thing alex is asked to do now
throw it 26-28 times a game not urn it over and it was mainly a run first offense
i posted this a long time ago but when montana was a niner there wasnt one time we attempted more psses than rushes
same thing went on at stanford with luck he doesnt have much 300 yard games and they run a hell lot more than they pass
thats just the WCO
and as i said our offense isnt sputtering the red zone woes are the effect of the lockout last 2 years i think we were 8th in red zone % to TD with the same personnel there is no reason to believe that cant change or even improve with this coaching staff
This is completely false. I can't believe things like this get posted on here about our own team.....We never passed more then we ran when Montana was here?
Year------Rushes----------Passes
1982------219--------------348
1983-----511---------------528
1985-----477---------------550
1986-----510---------------582
I could go on but i'm too lazy.....I don't know if you never watched the niners play with Montana or Young....but we were always a pass first team...WCO,,,pass first...
We are running a Hybrid now because we have a dominant back, Harbaugh brings that extra flavor and, because, you know, our game supervisor.

Nice hook bait with 'borderline elite' statement. Still, your right about limited offense in beginning of season. Now they are spreading it out some , giving different looks and demanding #11 to step it up!!!??? Like Gruden said, even their run plays only appear to be set up the same way as they run several different plays out of same look. Defense wins championships boys and MAYBE #11 is actually 'just good enough?' Coaches are taking advantage of early division clinch to test offense and possible 'go-to' plays for playoffs. With so much debate over #11 though , you can kiss you elite crap goodbye man. You know good and damn well he is no HOF QB! pretty much a must for elite status in any sport , any position, etc , etc. All positive though guys, it's good to see a balanced attack on offense . Respectable run game, pass game and QB could make our offense 'just good enough' for title #6 as it compliments a ....D........ that is very capable of of winning a championship. Reflect back to recent SB titles from Ravens,Steelers whereby QB stats were not that impressive and SB MVP trophies were handed out to Lewis and Harrison, respectively. It may be time for us spoiled fans , thanks to #8 and #16 of the past , to come to grips with fact that our only hope this year is to grind one out and pray our offense does 'just enough' to win at the end of the day. Overall , team is DIALED in and having offense crank it up yet a little more could make us unstoppable!

I have a question regarding our offense and how it relates to the so called elite teams of the NFC. I was watching ESPN and the thing I've heard for weeks now is "9ers dont have the firepower to keep up with GB or NO." The latest person to play that card was one of those two stews guys. It struck me as funny that this guy is giving his opinion on national tv and has little grasp on what SF does.
I guess I didn't realize that once we play the Saints or the Pack we have to by NFL law change our entire football philosophy. Why is it being presumed that either of those teams is going to have this magical 17 point lead on us?
Our offense in relation to our defense is perfect. T.O.P., field position and no turnovers are as important to winning as yards passing. Our offense has done that all year not counting the few hiccups and ugly spells but what unit doesn't do that?
It's hokey but this is smart football being played by inspired athletes. Today was the first day I actually entertained thoughts of the Super Bowl. I thought about going toe to toe with the best of the best and I don't see teams that scare me. I think we are the team that scares other teams and their fans, honest. By this point in this season you are who you are. I'll take this teams makeup over anyone else right now.
I read alot but don't post alot. I have vivid recollections of our previous 3 SB's, the other two I was still to young and in the case of the first one not even born yet. Being a diehard New Jersey Devils fan I have gotten to ride that rollercoaster ride 3 times and if you really love a team, in terms of being a fan their is nothing better. My point is this: It's time to stop dissecting and just support a special team that has a great chance to do something special. Every week, 1% better.
Super Bowl bound.

Ive learned just to skip over this dude's posts. He regularly posts false information that he represents as facts. Then he is called out about them, and begins to backpeddle.
I wish this message board platform had an ignore feature.

I think if Alex Smith can get into rhythm earlier like he usually did in the second halves of most games this year (the game against the Giants comes to mind - Smith was excellent throughout that game), the 49ers offense will do fine.

did you read my post?
i asid we rach teh RZ just as many times as they do if mot more actualy because at the beginning of the seaso when we were learning the playbook and playing games at the same time
and as roman said the last thing that clicks in a new ofense is RZ offense
if we scored the league avg in red zone to TD conversion just the average im not talking more we would score just as much as those teams
as frr the packers they have only played 2 defenses in the top 20 they didnt crack 24 points against either of them and against the cheifs who are 9th in pasing they only got 14 points

Wrong, we don't have the wr's.
I like Williams the most.
Crabs will never be a #1. He's not fast enough to demand a double team.
And I don't care how great your qb is, the wr's gotta catch the ball when it hits their hands. Dropped how many balls against Pitts? 4 at least.
And if you think we have the backs, why didn't Frank light it up against the Steelers?

We have moved the ball well this year the best in the last ten years, we have two problems one is third down conversions and the other is red zone. We fix those we will definatly be a team to be in the top five in scoring. We have left lots and lots of points on the field.

We play like we did monday, with Alex making those 2 bad passes to Crabs and KW and we can beat either GB or NO . If GB dont get their line back and GJ healthy they might be in trouble.
