This.
its an interesting "what if." i didn't watch the video but i'm not sure what the big deal is.
If Joe misses clark on the play he comes back and hits someone else for the touchdown on 4th down. /thread
a better what if? would've been: "what if the refs had actually called a safety for dallas when Joe Montana ran outta the end zone and into the tunnel (there were still seconds left on the clock) and dallas won 29-28?"

dameshek is a closet cowgirl fan and dodger lover so what if his mother had swallowed him? this thread would've never been.
haha why the hate? i thought it was funny
ok, watched the video. obviously its meant to be silly.

but things would be different for each franchise if that play turns out differently. that doesn't mean that Montana drops out of football and becomes a subsistence farmer, but it certainly would have changed the NFL.

i've actually never undesrtood this. didn't montana kneel down before leaving the field? in which case the play was dead and the worst they could have called was a delay of game.

unless i'm wrong, which is possible.

i distinctly remember the clock still ticking when Joe sprinted into the tunnel...doesnt the clock stop if a play is whistled dead? someone explain the fine points rules-wise of kneeldowns/giving onesself up/running off the field

the point of the kneel down is that it keeps the clock running to end the game. running off the field after doing so would be just like making a substitution, even if he went out the endzone holding the ball and there was still time on the clock, because the play was dead.

unless i'm mistaken about the sequence of events and there wasn't a kneel down or any other action to end the play.

Right have to think of what happens during a common kneel. Clock keeps going, but play is over, like a running play. So long as theirs less than 40 seconds and that kneel down wasnt on 4th down, then no other play needs to be run to end the game.
