75% of the season is over and we have 10 wins in 12 attempts. Clearly, whatever this team is doing, is sustainable.

Yes clearly. I am concerned about the true strength of our schedule so far.

We have thus far only played three teams that are currently seeded for the playoffs (if they started today). (That's a low number btw...but beyond our control). However, our record against these three teams is 1-2. The only other team we will face that will be seeded are the Steelers, and I'd say that we will be hard pressed to win that game. I hope we win of course, but that game should serve as a good indicator of whether we are truly contenders or not.
We are actually 2-2 against teams who are currently seed for the playoffs

We beat Cincy and Detroit and lost to Dallas and Baltimore

detroit wouldn't make the playoffs right now

People are afraid of what they don't know.

We haven't seen this team in the playoffs yet, so the easy thing to do is criticize and nit-pick.

That's why teams with less overall talent and balance (Packers and Saints for example) get the benefit of the doubt. They've been successful in the playoffs.

When we win a playoff game, after a 6 win season, with a great defense, solid QB and subpar WR production... people will pipe down. They'll have nothing to stand on.

Time will tell.

That's pretty pathetic for 12 games into the season. How are we going to make a run for the playoffs with that kind of passing game. Don't have the same figures from the Saints or the Packers, but it's got to be extremely lopsided in their favor.

Building VERY very slowly. I still say Romans holding back on what this offence can really do. When Alex needs to throw, he throws, even in the Ravens game dude was still looking to throw after all those sacks.

Totally impressed with Williams, limited playing time yet leading WRs in touchdown catches. speaks for itself-get the kid the ball!

The passing game does need to get better, and it has been showing improvement each week. We are more of a running team compared to GB and NO, though.

Some opportunities have been there, the execution hasn't. Whether it were dropped passes or missed throws. Should this offense click on all cylinders... watch out!

Agree
What more does Kyle Williams have to f**king prove to lock down a starting spot? -Second to Crabs, Kyle just might be the only consistent WR in the whole f**king squad (and this counting 'stone-hands' Davis).

Seriously, I'm f**king fed up with this, Braylon Edwards is a mediocre piece of s**t 'has-been' that keeps getting injured, and keeps getting more shots to drop more important balls when it counts on 3rd down situations. -Don't wanna see this guy f**king s**t up for us in the playoffs when it counts.

You should stop holding back and tell us how you really feel... it's not healthy to keep it all in.

Kyle Williams definately needs to be a starter, he catches everything they throw at him and he actually has speed!!

I'm right in line with this thinking too. One of the true mysteries this season (and IMO the only true blunder Harbaugh has made all year) was keeping Edwards in as long as he did. I never saw anything out of BE that justified a starting spot. I mean the guy had nothing. Harbaugh kept saying that we were a better team with Braylon out there and I kept wondering what the hell he was looking at.

My buddy actually had me (almost) buying into a bit of a "conspiracy"-type thought: that Harbaugh wanted to give Braylon every possible chance, so as to demonstrate to the league that he was a veteran-friendly head coach. Still think he's too competitive to do that, but if I see Braylon get all the snaps this week and Kyle Williams get next-to-nothing my blood pressure will start to pop off.
People need to stop turning these threads into Alex Smith defending/ bashing threads.

Make no mistake about it this matters. We're 30th in the league in red zone TD ratio at 38.1%. This could be are undoing, because it's our biggest flaw. We're not producing in the red zone, and our receivers only having 6 touchdowns is a huge reason why.

I don't think it's an Alex Smith problem at all. I'd like to see us use Vernon more in the red zone, and it's definetily a concern that Vernon draws coverage, our receivers get 1-1 matchups and we're not exploiting that. Not blaming Alex because there's 4 perfect passes in the end zone I remember being dropped.
10-2
