We average 7.4 per attempt which is 11th in the NFL, our passing attack is pretty good. We do need to improve our Red zone numbers though

I think that's misleading. Our passing offense is near dead last. It's like if I had a 4.0 but only took one class a year while everyone else is taking a full load. Efficiency without production is useless.

I think it's more like getting a B on a test without studying while others get A's because they studied more. Our passing is good enough as evidenced the past few games.

Why are you ignoring the TE position? Vernon Davis has 5 and Walker has 3. Is the TE position not a valid passing option?

For example, 18 of Tom Brady's 30 touchdown passes have come to TE's.

Thank you

Not good enough. "Cam Newton would have 50 WR TD's on this team by this point".....

You "numbers and stats" guys kill me, I thought stats only mattered to Raiders fans...

The Alex Smith thread is ridiculous and almost unbearable now and now we're going to debate and call the team pathetic because our WR's don't have enough TD's???

WE'RE 10 and 2 for crying out loud!! what more do ya's want? the pressure of 12-0?? Are some of us secretly jealous of the Packers?? what gives?

Shaj I expected better than this out of you.

Why?

For real, though I must admit he has done pretty well by not having more embarrassing moments trying to find things to criticize our qb about. Notice he doesn't post much when we are winning?
They would have more had they made some key catches instead of drops. And don't forget about some awful calls the negated several.

We don't have the weapons the Saints and Packers have either
I think this stems from the fact that we have dropped a few and had some bad calls. It could be double digits. Mostly though I think it is because we don't look for the Wideouts in the redzone much. I think we will see that at some point in the playoffs. I think we play very conservative in the redzone and at some point when we need it we'll call it more open in the RZ. We have plays that spread the field out and get good matchups in the passing game when we are inside the 20 but we don't seem to want to rely on it. My hope is that the coaches don't want to show our cards if they don't have too.
new offense and i doubt after 12 games that we have seen even half the plays in the playbook

Yes we do have the weapons. Maybe it would help if we actually pass more than run in the red zone. Saints and Packers nearly pass every time they are in the Red Zone.

Vernon: One of the league's best TE's
Walker: Extremely difficult matchup for any LB/SS. You saw the DET game.
Crabtree: Averged 90 yards per game in the last 3 games with longs of 38 and 52. (Calvin Johnson, the #2 ranked WR averages only 20 more yards per game than what Crabtree has had the last 3 games)
Kyle Williams: the talent this guy has is and the way he looks is right there with Victor Cruz type of ability. Kyle Williams has a long way to go, but his talent is a weapon.
Gore: One of the league's best pass catching RB's.
Bruce Miller: dude can catch!

This I agree with. We get pedestrian in the Red Zone, an area that is historically a strength for Smith. Throw the rock.
