On Turning Points they were discussing how our pass protection seems to falter when we play against 3-4 defenses who do an "over load zone blitz." The Ravens did this AND disguised this pretty well. Since we're a 3-4...why don't we try some variation of it? Do we? I just feel like at this point in the season...it's time to play a little more aggressive on defense.
And on a side note...how does an offense respond to an "over load zone blitz?"

Quick passes, screens, or passes to the RB

Great question...this is ironically, my biggest criticism thus far BUT I also need to keep perspective that a real 3-4 takes just as long to learn as a WCO...2-3 years minimum and that's if you have all the key parts and playing together during this time. We have seen a handful overloaded blitzes esp. with Brooks/A.Smith on the same time. Each time this was ultra successful and they have switched sides time to time and I've seen Brooks line up inside next to Willis and rush. In short, we have ALL of the tools to be a very effective blitzing team...we have the parts; now its about growing and developing and learning the playbook. My only concern is that b/c of the success we've had with playing 95% straight up and us getting burned a couple times when we did blitz, Fangio is hesitant to take us to the next level. If you think about it...we're complaining about a #1 defense b/c it's not exotic enough. Sounds like the offense, eh? I think everyone knows that we CAN get there and build and add more and more each week. Hopefully, we'll employ it the most during the last few games and gain momentum for the playoffs!
How do you block it? You got me...I saw us with 8 blockers against 2 guys (really rushing) and both were 6-10 yards in our backfield and BOTH sacked Smith. So maybe you don't block it...haha

For example, letting Anquan Boldin run free on 3rd down is a recipe for the opponents conversion. The strength of our corners is press coverage so why play them 10 yards off the WR on BOTH sides. I understand possibly one of the corners needing help (Brown) but both corners and the slot guys shouldn't be allowing WRs to come clean within the 5 yard window.
Also, let's not have Brooks cover Lloyd on third down.
we need Soap to cover Lloyd-----receiver against receiver.

Pass rush regressed? No, I don't think so. I believe the rush is still pretty solid.

This whole team has regressed. We aren't running the ball like we were in the middle of the season, o-line is playing like crap again, and the D isn't getting any pressure on QBs.

We have gotten away from running the ball. Why on the last drive we did not run Frank at all? We have let the so called experts, get in our heads about no being able to pass. It's like Harbaugh and company need to prove that Alex can pass. Let's work on running and play action and for goodness sake find a body that can consistently catch!

I don't think the pass rush has regressed, but our corners were getting toasted today but good. We let a backup QB torch us for major yardage.
A backup QB

The pass rush has absolutely regressed, look at the pressure Alex had to deal with vs the pressure Skelton had to deal with, there's no comparison and Arizona's offensive line isn't stellar by any means. This team has been playing so-so football since the Redskins game.

I have to disagree. I think the D-line got plenty of pressure today. Skelton just happened to run up the middle a few times today at crucial moments. Also, the opponents study tape on us too, so you have to think defenses will play us differently. Besides Zona always plays us tough.

Seems like the guys are getting there just not bringing down the QB when they get hands on them.

And why does it seem like its only our team that can't hang on to the QB once you get a hand on them? Against GB or NO....if you don't get them down at the first strike...your done.
