You need to go back and watch some of the film from is games with Utah. His signature play was a long pass on a roll right. Very accurate.

Watching this film, the game rewind on NFL.com, NFC Playbook this week, I am CONVINCED that the game plan on offense was to avoid throwing near Ed Reed. Not only is he an interception threat, but he is a threat to return it for a TD. I think this conservatism got into Smith's head. There were several times he had open receivers in the deep middle that appear to be in his vision and he simply declined to risk the throw -- even when he had time to throw, LOL.

So in other words, it was the game plan.

I suspect when he did throw deep, he got a very specific look from the defense and probably a headset cue to during the play call to "take a shot here if you can."

Yeah, this was exactly what I was thinking when they put up the replay of VD down the middle towards Ed Reed. Smith saw it. Took him a second to decide against it. Might be Roman before the game telling Smith to pay attention to Ed Reed.

Whatever, it is nice to know that there are others out there, many of whom called for alex's head, that notice the kid does have guts, and doesn't complain. All those yrs with schidt for coaching, and now he has himself a great one, very much in the early stages of our last great coach. Alex has taken a pasting for essentially all the preceding yrs, yet, once he got a decent OL and a HC who is also a Qb, QB coach and OC, well, it all fell into place for him. I am extremely happy for him, and hope he continues his success. Believe it or not, the beating alex took in Ravens game, was repeated many times before over the yrs. Amazing he wanted to still stay here. Harbaugh was the only reason why.

Joe Flacco is a gigantic douche. I'm soooo glad Alex isn't like him.
