Jed went on to say that was not the kind of news an owner wants to hear but he trusted his guys.

Perhaps that background had something to do with the move to more prudent contract management and spending.

At some point, it is worth the owner calling an employee meeting to deal with some things that need changing. It is for the best of the organization that everyone face an accountability check now and then.

Good take. I believe such a meeting took place at some point.

Three offseasons later? Seems highly unlikely, especially given the money that was doled out to players following the early parts of training camp in 2022 (when Kyle supposedly said this to Jed).

Really not a flattering story if you actually break the comment down, but that's Jed for you.

Perhaps, perhaps, perhaps the Aiyuk deal was the tipping point.

I think Jed can't help himself after a certain point. Eventually, him and Paraag will stick their smarmy fingers into a successful operation.

He did it with Harbaugh, he's doing it now.

I can't go there yet. Two things Jed can easily call out. The bad WR deals and the team's inability to stay healthy. There is definitely more to the BA story than we know.

I'd love him to get involved in the injury mess. No one has addressed it in years

imo Parrag never wanted to resign BA and if he did he wanted to "win" the contract negotiations…something he hasn't been doing for the past couple deals. IMO it's one of the reasons they didn't go harder at the trade deadline either.

He's got a reputation of being a shrewd negotiator and that's part of the reason past deals have taken so long…Kyle just wants the best players on the field (like all coaches) and lynch while being a GM is a football player with the same mindset.

is what it is, imo if BA never got hurt there would have been no issues (or an out)… He got hurt and Parrag took it upon himself to void s**t back in July (supposedly), which was the end of BA in SF (from his POV). That's kinda my take on all of it.

They changed their S/C staff in 2019 I believe. Not sure how you magically make players not get hurt?

I'm sure the front office is painfully aware of the injury problems. They probably keep Kyle and John awake at night since they need to constsntly shuffle players around trying to fill gaps. Unfortunately changing the training staff can't prevent ACL injuries. There's no way to prevent turf toe. No way to prevent broken bones.

If Brandon wasnt doing what he was contractually obligated to do i dont think that's necessarily a bad thing. Someone has to be bad cop sometimes.

Big fan of Kyle and John but they can get way too attached to players to the detriment of the team. Can't turn a blind eye to players not doing their jobs.

Probably their biggest flaw IMO. Rookies don't get playing time until there is no way to push them back. Even then their guys get preference at times.

I get it to a degree, many coaches have THEIR guys. I think it's also what hurts us a bit in the early rounds cuz Kyle has his preferences and we kind of throw consensus out the window and why we have what seems like so many reaches on day 1/2. Obviously sometimes it works out but we know it goes the other way too.

I really like John but I'd love to see us bring in a legit GM candidate with experience that can work well with Kyle without creating a power struggle.

Who would that be? Please not some assistant GM. No way of knowing ifa #2 guy can handle being #1.
I think Jed deserves a shout out for being the first to go and see Kittle while the game was going on (and bring him a bottle of Tequila from his suite) that the type of thing that resonates with your players.

Helps build that environment where players want to stay and can help attract new ones that may have gone elsewhere.

From the brutal early days of having a petulant child as an owner, he's matured into one of the best.
Jed supports alcoholics!
