for the millionth time... it's not a rebuild!

They had the team 24 and going to be 25 years now. It's always the same pattern and always him. Always about saving money too. It's very predictable now. Plan on getting a lot worse before it gets better. Yeah it can get better. But you are looking at 3, 5, 7 years. It's not going to be next year. We have too much to replace in 1 year. No way you can fix this many holes in 1 offseason. Especially how we draft. With so many misses.

This is actually a good point. York has no near term plans to sell the team. He'll want to increase the value long term, and getting on solid financial footing will help. He needs to win championships, but it doesn't have to be this year. I'd like to think he came down on Kyle's authority to keep his old "favorites" at stupid future commitments, and also to lock himself in a room with no phone the first three rounds so we can wake up that opportunity, but yeah, that's my opinion.

It's been 25 years and we have won ZERO championships and now he's asking us to wait several years more?

We're not happy with ALMOST Super Bowl wins. We want Super Bowl wins. Jed clearly IS content with ALMOST and does not want actual Super Bowl wins like we do at this point.

You saying daddy had to come in and put the f/o in their place?

Go talk to uncle Eddie if you want to win rings.

I would, but he's made it clear he wants to stand on his reputation.

So being stupid and paying old injury prone veterans much more money when they are in the middle of their contract instead of beefing up your backup team is the formula to win Super Bowls? That wins you 6 games.

High salaries scraped off the books. Did little to nothing in FA. John York is blowing it up again. Every so often he does that. It's part of his cycle. When he gets frustrated with the high salaries. Make no mistake John and Denise still control a huge amount of the checkbook. Jed may run some day to day stuff. But you don't just hand over a muti billion dollar team to a kid. The parents are involved in the money. But seem to have little interest in football or day to day operations. That's what Jed is for. But when he gets frustrated about the money spent big cuts happen. We have seen this before multiple times. It's totally predictable by now and just part of Dr. John York.

Pure speculation.

Uncle Eddie didn't hve a salary cap and free agency during most of his years as owner. He could just pay more than anyne else and stockpile talent. There was a period when the 49ers 2nd team was good enough to be competitive in the league. He also didn't build a stdium that he had to pay for. Fewer teams grabbing drft picks. It was just a different era.

Glad you mentioned he won the Super Bowl during the salary cap era. What you forgot to mention is that he did not make excuses for anything.

Eddie D was just better at this than everyone else. Can't say that about our ownership today.

also, the patriots did it!

He never won the SB in the salary cap era
Eddie ran the team in a way that is hard to do today. The players got the best of everything. Best hotels. Best way to travel. Big bonuses. Players loved playing for the 49ers. As I said there wasn't any salary cap but salaries were much lower than they are now. Montana's biggest contract average 3.25 million per year. Now he would be getting at least 20 times that amount.

I was a season tickert holder in that era and I loved watching the way the team dominated. I wish they could do that again but I know it's not likely to happen with the way the rules are and the crazy salaries that are forcing teams to release good players to clear room under the cap.

Profits were much lower for owners as well…it's all relative.

All true, but he also demanded success. Kyle, For Sure, would not still be here. If he wasn't already gone on his being owned like a little boy For Years by all the tough head coaches in the league based on his record of coming back from a deficit, or protecting a lead, especially in big games, he'd Certainly be gone over giving away a chance to have a game winning possession in that SB OT.

If Kyle was the coach in that era with a roster like that he may well have won 2 or 3 SBs. Walsh had Montana and Young backing him up. Kyle has Brock and ?. Enough said.
