The team has needed a bit of a shift in thinking now that we're paying Brock. That's normal and expected. But people are turning nothing into something

Call it off-season fodder if you like but it sounds like the blame game to me. I don't like Jed becoming Jerry Jr either. If it wasn't for a freak injury the contracts don't look all that bad, you have to pay players its pert of football.

Uh yeah. He gave them $330m and they won six games. He should be reining it in.

Money can't buy health. With that said, I do agree it should be reigned in.

It should be able to buy guys without significant injury histories. And it's not just about the money - they gave Williams and CMC more money when they both had two years left on their deals. No reason to do that. They controlled their football lives. Locker room vibes aren't a negotiating point. If Trent wants to retire - let him. Don't give in. If CMC wants to sit and pout over a deal with two years left - let him. You can't keep caving to these guys.

In my opinion, the biggest reason that Jed does not have a ring is lack of QB.
People say that Eddie D was more passionate about winning and about football or that there was no salary cap during most of his time with the 49ers, but none of that passion or free spending would have gotten him 5 rings if not for Montana and Young. Jed's QBs starting in SBs are Kap, Jimmy G, Purdy.
Purdy is good, but this is not the 80s or the 90s. You need a strong armed QB to make sideline throws and stretch the D vertically. The D players are just too fast and athletic. People may or may not like it, but with Purdy, the D has to defend a smaller field. Jed needs to understand this.
Hurts is not in the league of Mahomes, but he plays better QB and is more athletic and has a better arm than Purdy.
We all saw Belichick after Brady left NE. What was Reid before Mahomes? What was Pete Carroll after Wilson? What did Mike Shanahan win post strong armed Elway, RGIII was nowhere as strong armed or as good a QB as Elway. People say Brady's arm was not as strong, it may not have been as strong as Favre or Elway, but he could make the throws when required, he had enough arm strength. How many SBs has Jerry Jones won after Aikman, or rather how many SBs has he been to since Aikman?
Jed needs to understand this and needs to insist that Kyle or whoever else will the HC after Kyle to get a SB winning QB.
What is his approach with Purdy? Give him 45 million or so per season and no long term deal. Has he insisted to get a better replacement of Purdy that can be here long term and help win a SB? Nope.
How many times has Kyle missed on getting a QB? He missed on drafting Mahomes, I think he gave up more to climb up the draft board to draft Lance than pay to get Stafford. He didn't or rather wouldn't sign Brady before he went to Tampa Bay. You can't make mistakes like these and expect to win a SB.
49ers are run by 2 people, Jed and Kyle, who don't understand the importance of a QB to win a SB and will not get a QB.
People can takes sides about Jed's handling of the purse, but this is not the issue.
We can blame Lynch all we want, as well as Paraag, but the lack of a SB win in the Jed era is his fault and all his HCs' fault, including Kyle and Harbaugh.

If you can see past the matrix is is, was and will always be the QB. (there are anomalies like dilfer etc yet rare)
Niners could have won a SB 3 years ago with brady but opted out.

Yeah I agree with this, and we need to get better at extending guys who are ascending before they become top of market guys. Its easier said than done but that and drafting better are a must if we want to stay relevant...
