No, but he did hire Joe Thomas who hired Ken Meyer, Pete McCulley, and Fred O'Connor combined they won 7 games in two years.

Eddie took his lumps, swallowed his pride and hired Bill Walsh and some other guys who knew football.
Nobody had seen a search process quite like this, in which a series of coach and GM candidates made a point of withdrawing publicly and leaks of "favorites" for both jobs seemed to shift as the field narrowed. York's mother, Denise DeBartolo York, was calling coaching candidates (which is her right as an owner), adding to suspicions about who really had final say.

I mean there's a few more for you. All things indicate that Jed was on a short leash at that point and that he wasn't the sole authority in this process. I'm not buying this being his decision in the end.

Finally found it! It was Gary Plummer who sited inside information:

"I'm going to drop a little bombshell on you right here," Plummer said. "I've heard that this hire was not the hire of Jed York. I heard that it came from a much higher source than Jed York and you might think to yourself, 'Woah, what's higher than Jed York?' How about Jed York's mother (Denise DeBartolo York)?
"I'm just telling you that's what I've heard and sources have said she has been embarrassed. Now, remember, this is a woman who grew up with her father (Edward J. DeBartolo, Sr.) owning the Pittsburgh Penguins and I think she loved hockey and she was involved in – I think they might have even won the Stanley Cup when they were there in terms of ownership. But seeing that and seeing her brother (Edward J. DeBartolo, Jr.) win championship after championship after championship, winning is in her blood."
It's not inconceivable to believe that Denise DeBartolo York, who is the principal owner of the 49ers, was in some way involved in the final decision to hire Lynch and Shanahan. What Plummer appears to be suggesting, according to what he has heard, is that Jed didn't have the final say.

Can't believe people are getting their panties in a bunch on this topic. Is this a surprise to anybody? Denise was always content to sit back and let Jed do all the heavy lifting until it was evident that the train was clearly off the track. What else is she supposed to do? We have this wonderful new stadium with a boatload of empty seats. I have absolutely no doubt that she stepped in and made the Shanny hire. If you were Denise, wouldn't you do the same?
The spirits went to the Chase Center.

And Jed hired Shanalynch after Tomsula/Kelly and... (the future is unwritten)

After 8 years.

It is like comparing Kelly to Walsh.

No, it's comparing Shanahan to Walsh.

Jed has hired 5 coaches. He's 2/5.

Eddie hired 5 coaches. He was 3/5.

Nothing is ever a 1:1 perfect comparison, but both owners made bad hires before making a good hire. Unfortunately Jed had to go through the cycle twice, but it's a what-have-you-done-for-me-lately business. Right now Jed is on an upswing.

Eddie D got it right in two years.

When Jed gets that 5th SB ring, we can start to compare him to Eddie D.

Eddie D never hired a Tomsula or Kelly.

Joe Thomas, Ken Meyer, and Pete McCulley say

He hired Walsh after two years and then won a bunch of Super Bowls.

I wasn't born until 4 years after Walsh was hired. I hope that one day young people will say "Jed always makes great hires" and I can respond, "Well young man, before Kyle Shanahan won a bunch of Super Bowls, he did hire this Tomsula fellow...." (life goals )
Don't know why anyone defends Jed, his fate is just one determined by being a lucky sperm... he did nothing to achieve his place in life other than being attached to his Mommy's umbilical cord... if not born into a family of privilege and wealth, his fate in life right now might be the accountant at the local Youngstown Ford dealership.

The injury to Staley, McGlinchey, juszczyk, and Witherspoon for 4-6 weeks could have been significant in other years, when the team isn't as good and doesn't have the depth.
The only significant player to IR is Trent Taylor, based on the situation with our receivers. He still has a chance to come back late in the season. Fingers crossed. Overall, I do agree that the injury has not been bad this season so far.

As I understand it, Eddie went to Al Davis for help in finding a HC. Davis recommended Walsh. For that, Walsh always seemed to held Davis in high regard.

I don't know why this is hard for people to believe at all. It's obvious that Denise Debartolo York (the real owner and real billionaire behind all this) would probably have the final say on some things. I don't understand why that would be hard to believe. Especially after some big disasters over the years and missed steps. It's not at all hard to believe that Denise stepped in to right the ship. If so great. Jed is too young and inexperienced. He loves the team and is well intended. But if not for his birthright he would not be in his current position obviously. I'm just glad the ship is being righted. If that means pulling the reigns back on Jed a bit and Denise stepping in a bit more that is fine with me.

The curse has been lifted from Levis Stadium and moved because the Warriors left Oakland.

Thanks Dubs.

Or maybe they're doubling up in Sacramento. #kangz
I dumped some salt around the stadium. Hopefully that keeps them out for good.
