This - completely agree, AllTheTime. No matter what good is done recently and going forward, you still have such tools that look back and negatively embellish where they see fit to best serve their own agendas.
No off set clause for Shanny. York was cheap. Now he's just stupid

I've just been listening to a podcast of today's 95.7 the game morning show cause they were discussing the current Aldon Smith situation quite a bit. Got me thinking about the way Harbaugh dealt with Smith's whole running his truck into a tree on his way to practice that Friday morning before playing the Colts back in 2013. I'm thoroughly convinced that was a big sticking point in Jed not wanting to give a new contract to JH after they had appeared in the Super Bowl the beginning of the year. Not saying that was the only factor but probably had a major effect on negotiations breaking down for any sort of contract extension. Jed had to be highly incensed by Harbaugh letting him play in a game 2 days after that incident.

Brooks (hits women)
McDonald (hits women)
Miller (throwing around his girlfriend and smashing her phone when she tried to call 9-11)
Jed let all that slide and considered Cable as a coaching candidate.

What happened to McDonald? What happened to Miller? How is that, letting that slide? And as for interviewing Cable, the accusations were 8 years ago! And he didn't get the job.

And regarding Brooks, I recall an accusation but I don't recall anything coming of it.

Paraag wrote the contract though.

Heres interview with JH lol

Oh, we talked about the 49ers, too, of course, and the highlight was Harbaugh noting that he lasted four seasons under the current ownership–the longest any of their 7 coaches (previous to just-hired Kyle Shanahan) have survived.

"Maybe there should be an endurance medal, a courage medal for that," Harbaugh joked.

It's possibly very common in the York 49ers universe and reflects their lack of a bargaining position given their practice of rearranging deck chairs pretty often . I feel pretty confident that Paraag has the same lack of an off-set clause in his own contract (which he probably also wrote). The only difference is that I would assume that in Paraag's case his contract doesn't expire until 2060 or so. It's solidarity forever with Jed and Paraag. .

Miller was arrested for pushing his girlfriend down and breaking her phone when she called the police.
Ray Mac was kept on the team after being accused of sexual assault.
Cable has been accused of domestic violence by multiple women.
Brooks was accused of punching a women when he was a Bengal and was indicted for sexually assaulting a woman.

"Harbaugh began this portion of the podcast by thanking Kyle Shanahan for dropping his name as one of the great 49ers coaches in history during Shanahan's introductory press conference. He also said he doesn't think he was in town long enough to be compared to Bill Walsh and George Siefert."

Well said Harbaugh!

Harbaugh praises Shanahan and Lynch, takes not-so-subtle jab at York.

McDonald was iirc kept on the team until the matter went beyond any reasonable doubt and then he was cut.

Cable is not employed by the team. What do you expect the team to do? As I said, the accusations were years ago. Maybe you should be complaining to the team that employs him?

Does Miller still play for us? No. Neither does McDonald. So your accusation that Jed did nothing is factually incorrect. The team acted with a lot of class, giving the player the opportunity of proving his innocence or in the case of Aldon Smith, turning his life around.

Who is complaining? I was just pointing out that I doubt Harbaugh playing Aldon after the DUI had anything to do with Jed getting rid of JH.

Way to spin what Harbaugh said, media.

Am I the only one that sees that Harbaugh was referring to the three straight championship games in three years as the thing the medal should be for? I don't even think he was referring to himself so much as he was referring to his team (players/coaches) for the success over that stretch. And I definitely don't see it as a comment about enduring ownership. The media has taken one earlier statement and one later statement and clipped out the thing in the middle that brings full context.

EDIT: Misreading of an article covering this by me. Interpretation above is clearly incorrect.

So, way to not spin it, media.
