Theyve done that once (monday) all season and now everyone seems to think thats an integral part of their defense. All that means is that their D linemen tire out very easily and that will work to our advantage. Plus who are they putting in on the rotation? they wont be as good as Suh, thats a huge plus.

Really like this idea. If they can practice play sets so they will be able to go no huddle until they get a first down, then call another set, they will have a good day. Have they had enough time to get their hand signals down? Alex Smith can do his P Manning imitation.

I like this idea, especially in crunch time....but doing this would tell me that Gore is not in the package. Not sure if you guys notice but Gore calls for subs a lot.

And shotgun a lot so everything is in front of Alex. Loved the constant 3 TE sets last game and dominating on the edges AND running passes out of that formation as well. Get those fatties running constantly. They suit up 9 DL and rotate constantly. Lots of quick-outs like that pass to Morgan where Crabtree instantly blocked. Teams have keyed in on us within the box so much over the years, the edges were WIDE open all game against the Bucs. GREAT game-planning. And obviously, once the edges were effective, it opened up the inside. Huge days for Gore/Hunter.

Scheme alone can neutralize this DL. I don't think their LB's o secondary is that strong. Ginn's speed and Crabtree inside could be very effective. But Walker and Davis could kill this team and make the DL a moot point. Quick slants, etc. The WCO "can" be very effective against an aggressive DL.

On defense, its ALL about getting to the young QB and making him earn every single pass.

Go Niners!!!

As far as the O goes, they probably won't be able to "neutralize" the front four of Detroit, but you are right about running off the edges (and I'd like to say I am so happy that they are running off the edges under Harbaugh - it feels like it's been 8 years since we DIDN'T run up the gut). I also think with the aggressive front four of Detroit, they tend to over-penetrate at times and screens may be super-effective against them. On D, I say do whatever they did against Tampa, cuz it worked!
~ Stop Megatron.
~ Block Suh.
~ Say "they quit" after we win...

I WAS THINKING THIS TOO on my way to work this morning. One big reason why I love the scheme because they're so creative with it. It's clearly obvious that the 49ers have one of the most physical offenses in the NFL, and the fact that the TEs are so dynamic allows them to come out passing in these run formations, it really takes its toll on a defense trying to stop the run and then all of a sudden gets burnt deep with throws to Delanie and Vernon Davis, they have no clue what's coming...it showed in the Tampa game with those two TDs to Delanie and VD....total domination.

Lions have never ever faced this type of attack all season.
we may have to open up the No Huddle

I hope the no huddle comes in. I think alex plays exceptionally well in the no huddle and we can cause a lot of mismatches.
We dont have to change anything all we have to do is do what we do. Watching the monday night game I noticed that they struggle against runs to the outside. And gruden said he noticed that while watching the film. The D line is so sack hungry that they actually stuggle against the run. In the last 4 games starting with the chief they gave up 151 w/o J. Charles, 132 against the vikings, 113 against the cowgirls, and 122 against the bears. If the bears didnt stopped running they probably would have won the game. On the season they give up 4.8 yards a carry. Im not worried about the lions at all we should smash these guys 27-13 GO NINERS!!!!

- More screens

- Utilize the 3 TE sets

- Gore to the flats

I also love the calls were Sopoaga and Snyder motion in. Those two guys keep the defenses guessing when they're in. And I can't forget about Bruce Miller, hes been a pretty physical blocker on the field, also does a nice job getting to the second level.
