sadly, im still not confident with gore. the holes he runs thru are huge...its not like he's doing anything special. 2nd half vs eagles the holes were huge as well.

Running game is looking good. Nothing like it in the world when running the ball. As far as am evolution too early to tell. As far as other teams running like we do eh probably not but I havnt seen all teams yet.

At one point in the game we had at OLine at FB and TE.........think about the poor little LBs and CBs trying to get through that....LOL

That's a good point, that type of personnel is probably pretty rare, if not unique in the league.

I think Gore has had trouble transitioning to the zone blocking schemes. At the start of the season I was worried that he had lost a few steps, but as the season roars on, I'm not seeing a noticeable difference. I think the transition to zone has been harder for him but it's starting to come to him. Expect him to get much stronger as the season goes forward.

Not all of them. He had some very good runs during the game. He also makes people miss and runs them over for extra yards.
Its true that is missed on some plays, but he is playing like the old Gore.
The 49ers had success running the ball outside Sunday against the Bucs, compiling 13 rushes for 141 yards outside the tackles. It was their highest total over the past four seasons. http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/recap?gameId=311009025

It's like watching Hannibal ride into battle on the backs of Elephants......!!!
Can't wait 'til Iupati vs. Suh next weekend...should be EPIC!
I loved that it wasn't run up the middle over and over--the running on the edge worked beautifully. Tampa couldn't stop it.
even with the slow start for Gore, he's 8th in NFL in Rushing Yards. And only 43 yards away from Top 5
Gore really needs to learn how to not fumble ...

No, I have never seen anything like it and that's what I liked the most. Innovation.
I was considering starting a post titled "Innovation," and you took the words out of my fingers. I completely agree with you. It is odd to think of a running game being innovative, but that is exactly what it is...They are running very different plays out of *identical* formations, and the defenses have no idea what is hitting them. Mix in an evolving pass offense and, wow...

AND...

Though all of our focus is on getting to the playoffs, this is exactly, miraculously, the formula that beats teams like the Patriots, Packers, and Saints. When you mix an intimidating, hard-hitting defense like ours with a run-based, creative offense rooted in overpowering the other team, you have a formula that can result in victories over the aforementioned, pass-reliant teams. Vernon Davis said about the Buccaneers what Gore said about the Eagles. You could see clearly the 49ers offense demoralize both defenses.

I guess putting 7 and 8 linemen on the field at once will do that to a defense. The 3 TE bunch formation was pretty sweet too. Do you defend the run or pass?

Can anyone with a good knowledge of other teams and schemes comment? The only other team that I can think of that runs such imbalanced lines are the Pats.
Well whatever it is it is getting the job done. I like it that Harbaugh is incorporating the talents of all the players, including Sop and Snyder and it livens up the whole game by giving them something fun and different to focus on. So far so good, we are growing as a team.
