Crabtree's Illegal Touching Call

I THINK that only plays that are ruled TDs on the field are reviewed automatically. If they are NOT ruled a TD, then they don't count as a scoring play and would have to be challenged.

Yah, but you can't challenge flags.

He could have challenged the step out of bounds and not the illegal touching. I think the same goes for a PI if the ball was deflected, you could challenge it for the ball being deflected before contact. If this isn't the case it should be changed.

Makes sense, thanks
You could have reviewed this. It happened in the Sunday night or Monday night game I believe. They challenged the exact same thing.
the problem is the refs. its one of those things where, if you're not sure, dont throw the effing flag! obviously if there is an issue, let it get reviewed. the onus should not be on the coaching staff and megatron people to replay it on the big screen. also, its in their house, of course it didnt get replayed until it was too late to get reviewed. I mean i'm glad we have a system in place, but its far from perfect. Esp when these kinda of things can greatly change the outcome of a game. The NFL can say it was a touchdown, but that doesnt put 7 points back on the board in a close game, where the slightest thing can change the momentum.
wouldnt have been overturned anyway

Yea the issue was that JH didn't get a replay from Fox fast enough. By the time they showed it the Niners had already kicked the fg. They dind't get a clear shot so they didn't challenge the call.

I dislike that there isn't a standard set of cameras and, therefore, standard set of camera angles for instant replay.

So let me get this straight:
- A premiere game will have more camera angles.
- Camera angles will help officials and coaches with challenges.
- Premiere games get more help when it comes to challenges, while non-premiere games don't.

That seems so unfair. It's not the worst thing because it affects both teams in the non-premiere games equally, but I think that just sucks... I don't see why the NFL couldn't negotiate with FOX and NBC/ABC? to have a set amount of camera angles? Yeah, I know it's money, but the NFL has a lot of negotiating power... so I don't see why they couldn't have used it then.

They also get the better officials. We always get that one old black dude that can't even say the right thing when he makes the call. Like when the penalty is on the punting team he calls them the defense instead of calling them the kicking team, like most other refs do.

Same way you can challenge a "too many men on the field" call, which is a also a penalty.
