I don't know how many times I have to say that I love the way Smith is playing this year, and I'm excited that he's led this team to a 10-2 record. But because (when asked) I think guys like Rivers, Romo and even Bradford would do just as well in this system (or maybe better), all of a sudden I'm a hater?

Makes no sense.

I can't understand it either Ghost

At this point I see nothing left to do but...

But do you think Jets fans were/are justified in complaing about their quarterback the last few years? Do you think Jets fans are out of line when they want a better quarterback?

The answer to your question is jets fans should want a better QB because Sanchez plays dumb at times.

What has gotten Alex to where he is has been because he is very smart and safe. What hasn't gotten him to where we want him to be is because he's too safe.

I'm fine with that as long as people don't blame it on a myth that Alex isn't off the charts because of the lack of talent around him.

I think this thread will become real interesting once Alex Smith wins a playoff game, can't wait to hear what some will have to say.

Not a hater, but I just don't see what those guys have done? Romo? He has cost his team many games this season. Look at the Detroit game where they blew a huge lead due to Romo's stupid mistakes. Rivers fumbled a ball in the redzone and blew a game. He's also thrown quite a few picks this season at crucial times, Bradford he's having a worse season than Alex had his 2nd season by far, but he's somehow better?

These guys get more yards and amazing plays, but that also leaves them vulnerable to making big mistakes. Huge mistakes. Why would that change here?

and here we go again for round 12......

it has been established, posted, reported, and proven that he is suffering from more drops by this group then any other QB at the moment

yes he has not made ever pass perfect, yes he has had some bad throws, yes he gets and deserves blame for his errors.....

but his numbers would be much higher on the charts had those drops not occurred, for those that ask for a 300 yard 3TD game, they would of got it last week if VD holds on
It's amazing that in previous times when I get into this thread, I would know exactly who are the ones that don't like Smith by the explicit wording of their posts. Now I can't tell anymore cause the wording of the posts are veiled in giving credit to anyone and everyone on or off the team other than Alex Smith. It usually starts with a half sentence of recognition to Smith but quickly gloss over by mentioning other aspect of the team that contributed to the 10-2 record.

It's OK to give credit to Alex Smith's playing at QB for his part in the 10-2 record. And it's OK to go into details of how he has done that so far for the team.

Yes, he's not perfect. He's still improving.

Can we get back to the good old time when we know who are the haters and lovers. Makes reading about Alex Smith so much easier....

~Romo with one of the top defenses in the league (ours) would be a better option than Smith (IMO) as he wouldn't have to play such a high risk game
~Rivers when playing with one of the better defenses in the league (Chargers 2006 - 2009) led his team to multiple playoffs (Smith is going to his first playoffs)
~Bradford had a better rookie season than Smith by far. In fact, Bradford's rookie season was better on most counts than any of Smith's seasons prior to this one. I'm not going to discount Bradford for one bad season (his second), just as I'm sure you didn't discount Smith for his multiple bad seasons prior to this one.

Hey, I was called an Alex Smith lover because I agreed with Harbaugh in bringing him back. Go figure.

And for all of those guys, its how you finish.

Romo has been garbage in the playoffs
Rivers has never closed the deal
and Bradford has become Alex 2.0

IF...and a big IF Alex gets to a Superbowl and leaves with a W, he will do something that none of those other guys have been able to do or probably will ever do.

Valid points. But imo, I'd rather have Alex not making mistakes. Not only that but improving game to game. He had his best game of his career just 2 days ago. To think he has plateaud is down right silly. He's still pretty darn young and improving every week. What makes people think he can't get better? Guys like Romo, and Rivers aren't getting any better really. They have had the same results year in year out. Bradford I do not discount anything. I actually feel quite bad for the guy, we've all seen what changing OC's does to a young QB.
