The biggest caveat, other than the obvious (Manning's health) is our inconsistent OL. Manning traditionally had amazing protection in Indy. How good would he be when our OL is getting overrun? Would he even survive the season?

You would want to trade for a 35 year old QB who is coming off major next surgery that isn't even legal to perform in this country and who has a HUGE contract that would each up a lot of cap room. I don't see that happening.

You don't let a 27 year old QB who will be in the top 10 QBs in the league for a risk like Peyton Manning. And, yes, Manning is a huge risk now.

Can't people read around here??? WTF???? He didn't say he would trade for Manning, and he did mention the caveat of health. He's just saying, in the hypothetical conversation of Smith and Manning, he'd let Alex walk and go after Manning.

Is this thread some kind of parallel universe or something???

I read his post. It's still ridicious just like your reply to me but whatever.

I've never been called ridicious before and I resent you for it.

It rediculous to believe Alex will keep this up next year. It's also rediculous to think Alex won't keep this up.

And Jim Harbaugh must be an idiot for drafting a QB in the second round. Wonder why he did that?

Finally, some sanity!!!!!!
I have a couple questions. And I am not comparing the two at all (situation, skills, etc). I repeat....I am NOT comparing the two.

But do you think Jets fans were/are justified in complaing about their quarterback the last few years? Do you think Jets fans are out of line when they want a better quarterback?
Bump.

All this stuff about Alex is in the "perfect situation" is BS. He's in a better situation, but not a perfect one. As I laid out already, he has overcome a number of obstacles. WR injuries, League-Worst Drop rate, Bad line play still (26th in sacks), No OTA, No TC, New staff, New system, etc. etc. ...

Perfect situation? Bull crap.

Jake, I posted a link to the ESPN blog with the official numbers. Those Washington post numbers I believe are unofficial. See Below.

Sanchez is overrated, Alex isn't even on the radar

No, just said I'd seriously consider it and that Manning's health is an obvious caveat.

people are actually using the "Alex Smith sucks because of better coaching" argument.

you both make good points

mannings injury is extremely serious 1 sack and hes done (necks are bad especially whiplashes)

there has to be numerous of tests done before we trade for him

imo though if colts trade him at all (even with luck) thats a red flag he is the best qb in the nfl
