Exactly, Gore hasn't lost it but he isn't the same player he used to be or at least has yet to show it. Give Gore a decent hole and he can still break a tackle for a decent gain. But in this offense its allot of pulls and misdirection and Gore just looks slow to the hole. Compare that with Hunter who hits everything full speed whether there is a hole there or not... like in preseason when he ran INBETWEEN Iupati and the man he was engaged with, if our line cant get a good enough push then Hunter is who we need back there.

Gore looked good in limited action in the preseason, he looked quick and crisp. I think the key here is that teams are stacking the box, and we are still just running into a brick wall.

I'm hoping that harbs realizes these errors and fixes the gameplan. I also want to see more hunter or dixon, I think Dixon had one carry, and that was the only action our other backs saw?

I would like to see us use Hunter in a role similar to CJ Spiller of Buffalo. Change of pace runner and getting him the ball in space in the passing game. Buffalo puts Fred Jackson and CJ on the field together a lot and that is a match up nightmare for most teams. There is no reason we could not use Gore and Hunter at the same time and cause the same kind of match up problems.

I'm looking for Kyle Williams to help us out. I think he can. I have no faith in Crabtree or his foot right now.

So translation, we will come out first posession next week, ground and pound with some play action.

I like that our O.C finally tried to get VD involved, and it helped our offense big time. We need to get d walk more involved next.

I wonder if gore will be butt hurt that hunter finished it out.

VD had 8 catches for 114 yards. Crabtree, Morgan and Ginn are the ones that need to get involved.

no, the only person on our team that runs slant is braylon, and he is injured.

I can't believe we throw so many out sideline patterns, and no slant patterns. All those outs are a recipe for a pick 6.

Why do you think we are getting so few YAC yards? I think the offense has looked like crap because the short 5 yard passes are getting 0 YAC. Take the 20 completions yesterday and add 5 YAC to half of them and all of a sudden Alex has 275 yards and the offense looks alot better.

Is it Alex not passing the receivers open or are the receivers not making the players they are supposed to be making the WCO?

Also anyone notice when Dlineman get a clear shot at trying to strip the ball from alex, he seems to hold onto it with just 1 hand while being sacked?

A good bit of it is the lack of practice time. The slant was not in the inventory prior to this season. Now the best we have is Edwards and he is out. Morgan was always on the sideline routes in the past. Ginn is considered too light. Crabtree hasn't had any practice time. In the few times I have seen 49ers run slant routes, the receiver looks tentative about when to actually make the break. Timing is critical.

Greg Jennings is the best slant route runner in the league, IMO. Yesterday he was isolated on a couple of plays. He gets off the line with a burst, drives slightly to the outside shoulder of the DB, then just before he runs into the DB, he breaks sharply on the 45 degree to the inside. His drive and position on the DB prevents the defender from undercutting the route and Jennings body is now between the defender and the incoming ball. If the defender hesitates at all on the break, or is bumped off at all, he is incapable of tackling Jennings. He had considerable RAC on plays that broke down just that way.
