Agree. I thought he was gone when we signed Gooden

Jones isn't going anywhere. Apparently they're so unbelievably high on him, he'll be one of the active players on gamedays. That means they REALLY like him. The guys who are likely inactives are usually the first to go. With Jones, as noted, that's not the case.

Next year, when Spillman's contract expires, I expect Jones to be the new Spillman basically. Assuming the sole "ST stalwart at Safety" role.

I think I remember reading that Harbaugh had him taking reps at WR at one point. Does that sound familiar to anyone?

Really odd decision. I hope he gets his head straight and becomes a special team demon.

I agree I really thought he was a goner. I still think that once the secondary is all back and healthy that they may look to release Jones or Spillman or a DL man to add a Outside LB.
