We have Alex Smith, no vet QB, and no Center = No offense ONCE AGAIN

These guys suck...it's going to be a Loooong Year...what are they thinking

I am convinced Jed York has a man crush on Alex Smith. Why else would any team give one player so many chances. Leinhart was drafted a year later and is on his third team.

I think think the resigning of Alex has made other FA's hang their head and head for greener pasters. See Baas, et al.

Whoops. This must be an Alex Smith thread. My mistake... opened it up thinking it was about what our coaches have been doing during the lockout.

Breaking News...in a joint statement issued today President Obama and House Speaker Boehner announced that their failure to broker an agreement on raising the debt ceiling is Alex Smith's fault

Since there has been no activity, besides signing undrafted free agents, and backups like McDonald and Wragge, all the attention, and all the chips have been thrown on the table for Nnamdi. It appears that everything is on hold until Asomugha decides whether he wants to play for a championship-caliber team, the Jets, for $12 million/year, or stay in the Bay Area for $13 million year with the Niners.

I think he is headed to NYC.

I have to agree MD. Why in the world would someone like Nnamdi want to come here for even 2mm more a year. He make that up in NY endorsments.

Nnamdi is a pretty level headed guy. He has said he likes the bay and wants to stay in this area. He may want the championship, but he may also be turned off by the NY spot light, and I don't really know about his ego but he may not want to play second fiddle to Revis. Regardless, we've lost a couple average players who had career years (ie: outliers from the norm) to teams willing to give above market value contracts and now the niners have no hope for the future? We pulled off bigger upsets before, even as recently as Harbaugh.

You play to win the game!
Yes, Namndi might consider that he would be regarded as a much bigger "hero/savior" by gracing SF with his presence.

we are 2 days in to FA

i know its 2 days but im wondering why not a dam article blog has been leaked about a potential free agent from another team

I find it comforting that nothing is being leaked. Yes as fans we are nosey and want to know. However, if you remember the draft the niners were tight lipped. Why do you want the opposition to see your hand?

Just like war, $hit happens, soldiers panic and run the other way. Sometimes things go your way. But the sky is not falling. Look all over the league, it is the same with a majority of teams.

Remember the past few years when we've "won" during the offseason and free agency? How did that work out on the field?

I'd rather they were sensible, made smart decisions, acquired free agents at a reasonable price, than overpay for a guy.

Really?? how is nnamdi not sensible....he is worth a lot more than two reasonable players. Clements wasnt worth the money but was a solid cb and helped our secondary contain the best wrs we went up against. One year he handled s smith fitz ochocinco buress almost everyone and a few other times fitz as well. Justin smith was a no brainer and that worked out well

So the last 2 big fa spendings worked out well and great for clements and smith.

keep it going.
$15 million a year for a 30 year old CB? id rather get Joseph from the Bengals who is younger and cheaper

This. One player in the defensive backfield is not going to propel us to the playoffs.

Considering that there are no serious contenders in our division, It may be a possibility. I mean, the 94 9ers sign Deion, win a ring. We are a win or two away from snatching the NFC West crown and with better pass coverage, I think we could squeeze out more than just a couple wins. SIGN NNAMDI! PLAYOFFS OR BUST!

Adding Deion to Hanks, McDonald, and Davis is a different situation than adding Nnamdi to Goldson(maybe), Smith, and Spencer. Not to mention that defense also added Norton, Plummer, Dent, and Harris to Young and Stubblefield. Don't get me wrong, though, I'm all for signing Nnamdi(I'd settle for Joseph).
They better have been thinking of ways to bring Nnamdi across the bay and how to keep him here till he retires.........
