SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- A few thoughts after watching the San Francisco 49ers practice in pads for most of their three-hour afternoon session Monday:

* This was the crispest, most efficient practice I've seen while visiting NFC West camps over the past week. Coach Jim Harbaugh was everywhere, including deep inside the offensive huddle. The 49ers practiced with purpose. Harbaugh called this the best 49ers practice since camp opened. There was frequent give-and-take between offense and defense. Newly signed receiver Braylon Edwards dominated at times in the red zone. Fans in attendance cheered his every move, no matter how ordinary. Edwards' overhead touchdown grab against cornerback Tramaine Brock was a highlight.

Harbaugh even took some snaps behind center and dropped back and fired balls to Edwards to his left and everyone was cheering, Harbaugh turned around on the 3rd throw and waved and took his hat off to thank people

Look at the length of those arms!

No wonder he put's them on his hips alot, doesn't want to get his gloves dirty or grass stained.

Or else he's just tired.

Notable: Perhaps the 49ers are looking to expand the role of LB Patrick Willis. For the first time, he took part in one-on-one pass-rush drills that usually only feature the outside linebackers and defensive linemen. Willis had a difficult time getting around either undrafted rookie Kenny Wiggins or third-year player Alex Boone.

Interesting.

I have heard a few people mention it but that pic is insane!! Could someone be more built to rush a passer??

I originally voted 20 sacks in the poll the other day, but now I say he'll have at least 30 this season!!!

I agree, I know he hasn't played a down yet but this guy could be our next great pass rusher.

Interesting.

Willis will do everything on defense this year more so than ever looks like.
