Garrison Hearst...thought he was a bust. Then he goes on to break Niner rushing records (at the time) and has one of the best runs in NFL history against the Jets! Props to Fiore on that play too btw.

Jeff Garcia...I was thinking, this is our successor?! Who the f**k is this guy? And goes on to throw for 4,000 yards one year. The only Niner to do so I believe

I watched Jeff in the CFL....he was very good. I just didn`t expect him to be half as good as he was. The whole tough as nails, fierce competitor bit didn`t surprise me though. He was an absolute gamer in the CFL.

Funny thing is I went from hating his guts in the CFL to being a huge fan of his in the NFL. Even after he left.
Still pissed at the way he left.

same here, i'm a bc lions fan and he'd always put it up on us, during that flutie/garica era we'd never seem to be able to beat calgary

Walt Harris.
Vernon Davis. It's not that I didn't want him, it's just that I thought a good TE could be had for cheaper than a #7 overall pick.

Thanks. I got it confused with this year. We've gotta stop drawing such early picks so often.

Steve Young early on he would make mistakes that made me dislike him more. Joe Montana was the man and Steve had to have guts to fight to be the 49ers starting Qb.

Garrison Hearst never lived up to his high draft status, then he became a Niner and he was solid.
Charlie Gardner. Came from the Eagles. They laid something like 40 points on us one Sunday afternoon with Steve Young blowing up behind Seifert. Gardner was a major part of that blowout, if I remember right. Still stinging from that game when we picked up Gardner in FA. But man, he became one of the best FA pickup. Charlie was surprisingly durable.

Ken Norton JR... Freaking hated him on the cowboys!!

I was thrilled as hell when we signed him. I still remember my buddy calling me to tell me the Niners signed him. Great day for me
The Yorks and I still despise them all!!!!!

Wendell Tyler, former Ram was a great Niner.

I liked Tyler as well but he was a frustrating RB. He seemed to have fumbling issues.

LB

My dad worked with a fellow who was fond of saying, "Oops, I fumbled the football" whenever he made a mistake at work. As a joke, my father's co-workers bought the man a Tyler jersey and had "Fumbles" stitched on in place of Tyler's name.

I hope Mr. Tyler never saw that jersey.
