Two come to mind:

Garrison Hearst...thought he was a bust. Then he goes on to break Niner rushing records (at the time) and has one of the best runs in NFL history against the Jets! Props to Fiore on that play too btw.

Jeff Garcia...I was thinking, this is our successor?! Who the f**k is this guy? And goes on to throw for 4,000 yards one year. The only Niner to do so I believe

i think he threw for 4,000 yards in back to back years 01,02 maybe or 00,01

I looked it up. Was just the 2000 season. But the following year he went for over 3500 yards n had like a 3-1 TD/INT ratio. Can u imagine if we had anything close to that kind of production lately!

I miss Garcia to T.O that NY playoff game was the most hyped ive ever been for a game. My best friend is a NY fan so that helped. he was all "oh we are kickin your ass" i was so mad. when we started coming back i was talking so much s**t he left my house....lol

What a f**kin game! I was proud of myself on that one cuz normally with the score being what it was, I would get too pissed off and frustrated and turn the tv off. But I stuck it out and had faith and the Garcia to Owens connection was the reason why I felt we still had a chance.

The following week sucked tho. Still hate Tampa Bay!

I was at that game...FML....I live 40 min away from Tampa

That sucks man. I feel your pain

Its a good thing I dont live in SF.
Scott Gragg. Thought he was very average for the Giants before he got to SF. Played very well during his time with the niners though.

Joe Nedney. Had a bad history of injuries before we got him as a FA. Wasn't sure he'd last long, but has been very reliable while with the niners... Hope his current injury isn't too bad though.

Garcia was truly under appreciated last season when he as released by the Raiders I was hoping the niners would grab him but the morons attempting to coach the team would've made that a failure. He was well-versed in WCO if he came back, he'd ask for a release because they didn't have an identity offensively. Garcia was good at what he did if Donahue and Jackass York didn't dismantle the team and fire Mooch Garcia could've brought another Super Bowl I truly believe that.

Jeff Garcia - Man I was his biggest basher back in 2000, but damn glad we had him. Just think, if he weren't the QB from 2000-2003 we would still have a playoff drought.

Patrick Willis - Yup, its true, I wanted Adam Carriker and LaRon Landry over him. I know, thank god I wasn't the GM in 2007 right!!!!

Abrayo Franklin - Just didn't see him as a successful NT, but he did have a breakout year in 2009 and finally solidified the NT position. (Kind of)

Colin Kaepernick - To be continued!!!!!

Walt Harris, Thought he was washed up, but had a great 2 yrs IMO, too bad he tore his acl.

Tony Parrish, wanted to keep whats his face, I forget his name. But Parrish was a warrior. And deserves credit.

Lance Schulters?

Mine is Frank Gore. I didn't think he had anything left in the tank on draft day.

Yes, taking an injured player in the 3rd seemed rediculous! My mistake. Thank you Frank for proving us wrong!
Alex Smith
Hacksaw Reynolds. I *hated* his guts at the Rams and I'm still kinda mortified at how quickly I grew to love him as a Niner.

Still mad at mooch for sitting on the ball before half with two timeouts left and like 1:20 or so left. He was a solid coach for us, but I never understood why he did that. Especially after what happened the week before. Its a playoff game man. even if you get the field goal, something positive.
Jeff Garcia and... Colin Kaepernick

Wouldnt that be the other way around ?

People actually wanted Glenn Coffee?

I didn't want him when we drafted him and I wasn't happy he was a Niner. Then he retired.
