easily for me, Frank Gore. they called his name and I thought, "seriously? dude with two bad knees in the 3rd?"

Next Justin Smith, just didn't think he fit for a 3-4 end. Knew he wasn't going to be anyone's LB.
Steve Young. I got old.

there aren't many players that i didn't want, that came to the niners. the only one i could think of was laboy, and he has done a damn good job in our rotation
Except when Manusky had him drop back in coverage He had a good year rushing the passer tho

I didn't want Vernon Davis. I thought we needed a NT - I wanted Ngata. Though the argument can be made that Ngata still should've been the pick, I am happy VD is a niner.

i see where youre coming from but iupati was a unique prospect he was almost a sure fire
now that its done im happy with the pick he was on the all rookie team last year and almost a pro bowl candidate he will definitely be an all pro player within the next 2 years
I remember lots of people around here were pissed that we took Vernon Davis. I'm glad we have him. When you've got a player that every opposition has to plan for, you've got an important player.
Somebody above mentioned Steve Young and that's right on the money. You younger guys wouldn't believe the complaining and hysterics when Walsh brought Young on board. They complained that he was more of a runner than a QB. They complained that it would psyche out Montana and make him less effective. They complained that Walsh was trying to move Montana out. It was funny. I just thought Walsh wanted a great QB in case Montana got injured. I think it was in 1988 or '89 that they were playing the Falcons and the Falcons knocked Montana out of a game. Young came in and just owned them. After the game, Coach Glanville said something like "It's just not fair. When you knock out the opposing team's #1 QB, you ought to be able to expect a drop off."
Larry Allen. Thought he was a washed up Cowboy.

the funny thing is that now tons of first round picks are being spent on guards because of the rise of dominant interior dlinemen. You had mike pouncey (inferior to iupati/maurkice), danny watkins, james carpenter.

Patrick Willis

I was on the Adam Carriker bandwagon.
Taylor Mays
I guess I was the only one who thought Takeo Spikes would be a liability on our defense...and for the first few games he was.....but settled down and proved me the f**k wrong.
