Problem is everyone that is watching A Rodgers play now and A Smith play now think wow if the Niners would have picked A Rodgers the Niners would be challenging foir the superbowl...

Well here's what many have NOT thought of...Was A Rodgers thrown in right off the bat his rookmie year to start? Or Was he able to sit on the bench and learn the system. Answer wasnt the 1st statement.
When Arron Rodgers started did he have n OLine that resembled Swiss Cheese? No But for the entire career of A Smith He got that fantastic line blocking for him...

Now for the Biggest difference...Anybody that thinks D Driver G Jennings is equal to the Talented B Lloyd and whoever else the Niners had as WR should STOP Watching football those 2 WR corps arent even close...You throw a J Montana into the same team that A Smith had to start his career with with and he would have walked away from the game forever ONLY QB I can say would have had a chance with that expansion Niners team had been S Young Only cause he could consistantly run for his life.

What would Niner fans be saying if the Niners took Radgers and he'd have been thrown to the wolves and Failed...They would simply say Why did we draft Rodgers the guys a BUM...remember the Niners even were thinking of trading away the $1 pick and noone wanted it.

In the End...A Rodgers got to sit and watch as much as I CANT stand him watch B Favre for a few years on a talented team and learn hat was going on while A Smith got thrown into the fire with a team that had NO Leaders NO Clues what to do. and a coaching staff that had no clue what was going on...And NO Im not an Alopigic or whatever you all call them...Im just looking at what would have happened had A Rodgers come here ...not much different than A Smith given the talent he would have gotten here instead of in GB.

Finally, someone who agrees with me.

After 6 years no excuse for smith matters to say rodgers woyld come here and fail too is ridiickulas...talent on the field shows and reguardless of who you have around you flashes of that talent should show up after 7 years. Rodgers is a nfl claiber qb and alex is not even if thrown on the patriots team he would never reach the superbowl...knowing that we should have cut ties 2 or 3 years ago.

except, how many QB's excelled with poor coaching and no talent??? name some please.

Peyton Manning played pretty good his second season with the great coach Jim Mora. "PLAYOFFS?" And who did Manning have? Marvin Harrison. Before you Smith lovers get your thong in a bunch, Harrison did not break 1,000 yards until Manning arrived. His best years prior to that were about 73 receptions, 860 yards, and 6 TDs. Not very great. And do you really think the Colts got lucky with Harrison, Wayne, Stokely, Dallas Clark, Gonzales, and Garcon? Haha...hmm maybe Manning made them better.

Our coach, Jim Harbaugh, played on those same crappy Colts teams. Do you remember any of the WRs on the team where Harbaugh was a hailmary away from the Super Bowl?

Looks like Phillip Rivers tore it up over there with Gates hurting and Jackson out. If they're special teams didn't blow ass their games SD make the playoffs with a sub par offense.

John Elway, Dan Marino had success on some bad teams. The list goes on and on dude. Come on just see the light. Smith is garbage.

A. Smith is worse then Sanchez. Give him an all Pro Team and he'll still look like trash.
This.

Has done nothing to validate such a loyal group of supporters.

To hell with the Rodgers/Smith arguement. What caught my attention was the absolute respect these two rivals had for each other. During his playing years Sanders did a great job hiding the fact that he feared or rather was nervous to go up against Rice. These two are arguably the best at their respective positions. As flamboyant as Sanders was, I was happy to hear his humble side and like him a little bit more now. His addition in 94 was one of the best moves the 49ers could have made. I loved him as a 49er and was pissed off that he left and went to the friggin Cowboys. Im a Sanders fan again.
On a side note, Rice appears to be in amazing shape. Sanders has let himself go a tad.

I never forgave Sanders for that. I also hate his FA MERC mentality. I always felt he never respected his time with the Niners and always drooled over the Cowgirls.

He actually does. I remember when they did that top 20 Super Bowl teams of all time, he was very vocal about the 1994 49ers being ranked too low.

I may be mistaken but I believe he said the 94 team was the most talented team he has played on. I just think at the end of the day he wanted a ring....got it. Then he wanted to prove how good he was, switched teams, got another ring. I think he liked the 49er team just not the coaching staff and his underpayment by the team.

Seriously! That team was laced with some of the best the HOF has to offer.

haha Sanders is still a cocky deuce but he f**king KNOWS that he couldn't cover Rice and had to be humble. He even said he couldn't sleep the night before. Rice gave him some love back but that was just pitty..

Just remember Rice had his best numbers against one team, against ATL.

Here is a classic for you youngins. Pay attention to the great QB play, even under duress.
Where you at Neon Deion? Your secondary got torched for almost 500 yards and 6 TD passes.
